Hi Everyone,

I am using Vista. During the time Autopatcher is working to restore update files on my computer, CPU usage as reported by Task Manager goes up sharply and often pegs at 100%

Can this be helped? Would that cause damage? What can I do? I have formatted a new hard drive and reinstalled programs.

please, take a look at the processes tab. in there, you can locate all the processes and view the one that is going 100%. once i've found an issue like that, but it was related to the deployment of an update that really requires a lot of cpu to uncompress (.net 3.5), but some other update may do that as well

Also, momentary spikes are normal, pegged @ 100% for long periods needs investigating. Do you have other programs running while you're updating your system, not including Task Manager?
