SP3 for Office 2003

That's alright. In the land of patches, we typically talk about the executables when we talk versions :D

I just updated KB907417 which I bet the problem should be fixed now. Give it a shot and let me know.

Hi Erik

Yep, KB907417 is fixed. Thanks!

However,
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB947355)
Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB947801)

which are showing in the Windows updates as needed, don't show in Autopatcher.
KB947355 has been downloaded but doesn't show up on the list.

Regarding KB947801, you mentioned

"Microsoft Update shows as a needed update for the Compatibility Pack which I installed in my Office 2003 to be able to read Office 2007 files."

This is due to the Compatibility pack not registering it's GUID properly in your registry which is located at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{********-0020-****-****-*000000FF1CE}

If you don't have this key, which you should, AP won't detected your office products.

The key is there but AP doesn't recognize it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{90120000-0020-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Pedro

@Pedro - I'm curious: what version of Office 2003 do you have on your computer? Is it Student by chance?

I'm using Office 2003 Professional en_US which includes Publisher.

Interesting since I test with this version the most. The next thought that comes to mind is if another module is conflicting. Could you run autopatcher.exe with a /log and then post the log here? The log is created in your Windows folder called autopatcher.log

I found the issue with KB947355 which I'll have updated by tomorrow. Still looking into the MOC issue not displaying.

By chance, is the parent catagory "Microsoft Office Compatability Pack 2007" displaying?

Thanks, Erik!

Yes, it is showing. Under Microsoft Office Addons.

Actually there should be a parent directly called "Microsoft Office Compatability Pack 2007" just like all the security patches for Office 2003 are under "Microsoft Office 2003" -=I'll send you a screenshot later if needed =-

Yes, please do. Does this mean I will have to download the whole thing again?

Nah.. No need. Basically this is a module issue which should only account for 6KB +/- 2KB

Go ahead and use APUP to update the Office '03 pack. KB947355 should now be fixed.

I just realized something: Updates for the Microsoft Office Compatability pack are included in the Office '07 pack. Various Office '07 updates will apply to MOC since MOC is based on Office '07 technologies. Example: KB947801 basically updates Mso.dll which applies to both Office '07 and MOC. Did you download this pack?

KB947355 is fixed! Thanks!

Couldn't this stuff be under "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack 2007" under "Microsoft Office Addons"?

The file could be in the Office2007 folder but you could create a virtual link in the Compat Pack section so that people shouldn't need to download the whole Office 2007 updates just to get one or 2 updates.

What do you think?
