I used APUP to get updates from a machine running Win7 x86 no SP. It only works for Win7 x86 SP1 but not for Win7 x64 SP1. Then I switched to a 64-bit Win7 machine (again no SP) and tried to download updates for Win7 x64 SP1. I got the exact same error. I only select one and only one release to download: "AutoPatcher for Windows 7 SP1 (x64)".

My question is, Does the host machine need to be 64-bit Win7 SP1 in order to download the updates? I am only talking about the download, not autopatcher. I have already slipstream-ed SP1 into the image but would like to include the latest critical updates to the source as well. Please advise how to get the updates to download. Thanks.

I guess it may be something wrong with the script at your end or I set up incorrectly for x64.

I finally obtained the info from the Security Bulletin Board and then wrote a simple script to wget those critical updates from MS download site. Thus, temporarily I could integrate the updates to my image. I did it all from from a XP machine; it is all working fine now.

I am still interested if this issue could be resolved. It is very nice using AutoPatcher.

Would you mind sharing your script and how you integrated the fixes to your Win7 image from XP?

Thanks ...
