Looked at the options for Apup2. Own proxy setting and multi-thread downloading. Very cool and nicely done!

The error in the adobe air is probably due to adobe changing things again.(newer version)

The manual proxy doesn't work in the version you have, it does use the proxy you set up in windows though. In the version im almost ready to put out the manual proxy should work. Also on the multi-thread downloading... as far as I can tell for me... 2 downloads seem to be the best I can get from Microsoft servers at a time. Don't know if others get better... I do have the privilege of using the lowest tier of DSL and a really crappy connection at that (thank you AT&T for giving me the crappiest connection possible).

Well you were in the wrong area for your first post but, that is ok. You made a new post in the correct area but, forgot to delete the one here so I did it for you.

If you want to change scripts you will not need the source code for apup.

Yes... once we get the wiki up and running things will be much easier to find.

The download stats in the group box don't appear to be working. Are you still working on that? Adding an estimated download time remaining would be really great if it's possible. I have no idea how many files it needs to download. I only see that it's 17% done. Great stuff! This makes updating multiple machines a real pleasure.

The next release which is about 60% done has a few bug fixes and the stat boxes are working. I already have some code in for the ETD timer.

I have set that project aside at the moment because im working on the windows x64 script. it has not been updated since 2007? and I have to add 110 files to the script. that means manually downloading the windows update, getting an md5 writing in the download script the file name, md5, size, and the download link and where it goes. Then make a APM script for that file that tells autopatcher what to do with it. Its not hard work... its just ALOT of files because no one has touched it in so long.

Just a suggestion but here: http://www.ryanvm.ne...opic.php?t=6400 is the update pack for XP Pro x64 w/SP2 - used by the RaynVM Integrator to bring that verion of XP Pro x64 w/SP2 up-to-date.

I'm assuming your script will require that version to be SP2?

ohh well thanks for the link but, I already have a list of the files to use. I already installed a fresh copy of xp x64 sp2 (right after asking about it the other day)on my external drive and asked it to check with windows the updates it needs. I then copied the list. Since then im up to 46 out of 110. I admit to not doing it as fast as possible because doing it for just a few hours makes me bored to death as well as I start making mistakes. Yes SP2 is required... I have no idea why they don't just put it all into a sp3. Since the downloads of all the updates is around 360 mb's and there are soo many of them.

edit: im quite surprised that Microsoft lets them store the patches and hand them out.(if thats what they seem to do. The update pack listed is 89mb so I don't think so but, its too big to be scripts.) Autopatcher got a cease and desist order from Microsoft for doing that.

edit2: lol they also link to another forum that says Autopatcher from 2007 and says discontinued. Perhaps someone should say its still going.

I know its been a while since there has been an update. Im currently in the process of installing a new OS. As simple as that is... it takes alot of time. I have not formatted my HD in 7 years and the errors that windows disk check can't fix are piling up. The type of errors are bad partition table information. Yes I have already run threw alot of fix utilities, they all screw the partition table up bad when they say its fixed. What I need to do is full format my HD to wipe out that crap. I DO have a spare HD to copy my important stuff to but, its full as well.. <shakes fist> damn porn and games. SO, what I am doing is making ALOT of DVD disks. Let me tell you, I have a stack of burnt dvd's half as tall as me right now(in slim jewel cases). I would normally just buy a new HD but the current HD prices are pretty damn high and I am determine not to waste my cash. So I decided, since I have about 300 empty dvd's I would burn a ton of them. Its not pleasant and it takes a long time but, im saving money, which I don't have much of. Whats in those burnt dvd's you ask? Tons of Steam game backups and porn.

I know the floods in Thailand have driven up the costs of hard drives but the last time I checked a 2Tb WD Cavier Black SATA 6Gb/s drive was about $230 - not really that expensive.

That may be true but I'm getting ready to put together a new system: motherboard, cpu, memory, video card, etc and I'm not looking forward to do a clean install of Windows, Office, and all the other "stuff" I've gotten used to. Probably will wait till after the SuperBowl so I can devote more time to the effort.

More time? What kind of stuff we talking about here... Putting together a new computer from scratch takes like 30-50 mins, installing the OS takes like 20 mins, then running the list of updates takes no more then 10 mins. Office takes a bit to install, ok but, what else could cause so much grief? Unless you are talking about all the research time to figure out what components your going to take, then I can understand that. When I go to redo the computer I take about a month of looking around and reading specs and what people say about that item before I commit to a build. No flunky parts for me.

Because I will be installing XP Pro w/SP3, XP Pro x64 w/SP2, Win7 Ultimate 32-bit w/SP1, Win7 Ultimate 64-bit w/SP1, Office 2010 for all of the Windows versions listed, and then all of the "other stuff" I have gotten used to over the years: Java, AIDA, Powerdesk Pro, Real Player, QuickTime, various Utilities I like, etc, etc, etc, etc,.... etc.

Of course, that is after I install the motherboard, cpu, memory sticks, video card, and hard drives in the new case; hope everything starts so I can format the new drives, upgrade the BIOS if required, then start on the software.

I've spent three months checking out the latest motherboards, cpu's, etc and have received everything but the memory sticks; it appears the memory manufacturer's are still certifying their quad-channel products - DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1800(OC)/2133(OC)/2400(OC).

I have spare time, a spare PC (been testing Windows 8), and have a decent handle on the scripting. I can help out.

I've spent the last few hours setting up a hybrid local/net patch system. I can't seem to iron out the last few wrinkles but I am close. I think my host is blocking the file requests.

Well if you want to help and you can stick around for a few months you may be able to do so help alot. When I introduce script based detections for windows objects(OS type and Installed things) We will need to redo all the scripts.

I'll be around. I've been using autopatcher for a good 10 years. I even introduced it as a main tool in my IT department back in the day. The program has changed a lot and I never really worked on the scripted side of it.
However, now I've been tinkering around with C# 4.0, XML, Data Grid Views in an attempt at reinventing the wheel.
So far I have a couple of pretty forms that do very little. I've tried a number of approaches but want to keep the code a simple as possible to maintain. Ultimately, it is a learning experience for me. Since I am guessing at the mechanics of the existing program I am trying to build it all from scratch. Being a novice it maybe an impossible feat but my small victories have been exciting.
If I get a little further along I'll send you the file to see what you think.
