Hope you can get a beta version of Windows 8 when They do it. That way you can work the bugs out and get it ready for Windows 8 too. Would love to give it a try. Auto patcher has saved me lots of time.

Have you checked out WSUS Offline - http://download.wsusoffline.net/ - it appears it may have possibilites whencompared to AutoPatcher?

Wsus does offer some things that apup does not at the moment, such as the ability to download for a specific system, and create iso's. They have no system detection tho. You can't put it on a system and it will detect what you have and select the things you need. The detection part is the hardest part. All of ther commands are run from command line too it seems. I do like that they support legacy stuff tho. Everything that wsus does is already planned for in apup. Apups biggest advantage is that it can be expanded by the users ie... anyone. wsus can only download windows updates. Apup will allow the downloading of anything provided a script is created. I may be wrong in some of the things I said but, it is what I have gleamed from looking at wsus.

Thanks to user babcocca, domenico(he doesn't know it but, he inadvertently helped solve the problem), and lots of testing from christiano I have figured out the problems with windows 7. Yaye. Now on to fixing smaller problems.

2 more things to finish before its publicly releasable.

1) Getting the cancel download button to work when you tell it to stop... not after it finishes one file. (Thats happening due to not being multi threaded... easy fix but im making it complicated by throwing in the ability for parallel downloads, although I won't enable more then one download till I do some testing.)

2) A little bit more testing on the scripts needs to be done. We had a problem a while ago and I believe it was fixed but, need to do some testing on it.(the rename command wasn't renaming and the delete command sometimes didn't delete. Not big issues of course but, that could mean that other commands might fail under some situations.)

Other then those two there are only minor things to do during the public beta.
* Use detection scripts instead of detections programmed in. (40% done)
* Ability to either make Zips or ISO of download after finish. (5%)
* Support for other languages. [All the text in your language] (0%)
* Getting the speed to report the proper speed. [Indy doesn't seem to have an easy way to do this] (0%)
* Tons of other things I forget.

Well I got some more testing done today on the scripts and they seem to work fine except dos commands. We are probably going to rewrite all the apup scripts to remove dos commands. It allows more control when using internal script commands anyways. This will split the scripts into two sets of scripts... new and old. The new scripts won't really work with the old apup even though technically they "should" work. They won't work due to apup never really could do some of the commands it was supposed to do properly. The new scripts will probably be under "release.list2" or something easy to notice the difference.

After the new scripts are done a public beta will be held even if I don't finish the cancel download button in time. Posted Image

New scripts are done and we are waiting for them to be looked over and tested to work before we upload them. I was given a "maby done by this weekend". Soon apup2 for all the brave testers.

Before people start testing and getting crashes... apup2 still has problems with some firewalls/antivirus that let apup2 connect but then the firewall kills the connection after some data is downloaded. im still looking into why. (norton and kaspersky 2012,[ 2011 works fine])

Ok the new scripts are uploaded to the site and are working fine. All I need now is approval from my 2 current testers to wrap up the new apup and post it here.

it's pretty, pretty close to that. with the latest build, i've just noticed that the replaced updates shows as "moved" and wait to the user hits an ok. that should be silent, because the user may leave and the download will wait for an user action. the progress bar is full after something like 6% of download, if the user does the worst thing possible (aka download everything at once, that i'm doing right now). this test will take a few hours to complete, but no crashes so far. i've also got an "disconnected by peer". i don't know about what can be done about that and also an message about "d... timer" that also waits for an user action

but hey, this seems to be the best apup ever done, with features long waited for everybody and due this serious bug tracking, i think that all the know problems will be fixed

Either me or cristiano will post some pics of the program while its running shortly. so you can all drool on your monitor.

Ok ... cristiano went to bed before I could ask him... so here are the pics..

Posted Image

This picture is what you will see when you first turn it on... YAYE! Ya, no.... it looks boring but, I don't want it to auto download the list because you might have another list you want it to download... if thats the case hit the options button.

Posted Image

In the options window we can see many useful things. Somethings YOU the user will not see when it goes public like the debug: dont download option and maby the parallel downloads(im still working on it). The blank empty space is a placeholder for the after downloads options, to make zips or iso's.

Posted Image

Does this need an explanation? I don't think so.

Posted Image

Anyone want a sexy download progress window?

Make sure to wipe your keyboard and monitor down when your done drooling or what ever nasty things you might be doing.

PS we will soon hold a contest for APUP2's icon. Current icon is a default icon from Borland its crappy and is not related to AutoPatcher. You users will make us an icon and everyone will vote which is best and I will put it in.

Well the list shows what ever is in the release.list. I don't have control over that. Domenico or Crisiano can answer that since they are the script managers.

Right now I think Domenico is working on the common modules... someone complained about the X86 and X64 so he is splitting it up. Looks like he went to bed before he finished because the common module will not download at the moment.
