dkdk_it mentioned adapting all of the old scripts to the new AP Common Modules release in post #9 at this link .. http://www.autopatch...scripts-update/.

I'm just looking for some clarification as to what these new Common Modules are. Is this a method to eliminate the need to maintain separate release folders for our AutoPatcher downloads? Like, keep the updates common to all releases in one folder so that it might cut on the download size and yet still not confuse things too much (especially the troubleshooting part)?

well, you know that every single script has to be updated, right? mrt, by instance, fits for all OS's and all languages. but as is an module that has to be updated in every single script, until all the scripts be updated, some scripts remain unofficial or even out of date and without that update (just imagine that you have downloaded an w7 script that already had the latest version and later you have downloaded an w2k script, that wasn't updated yet. that script will download an old version of the module and you won't be able to deploy the update. worst: some guys doesn't require this tool at all and still are forced to download this update

about the "keep every script in one folder", that it's because the current apup can't handle too many scripts at same time. apup2 can deal with that, but it still has a few glitches with detections under x64 environtment. but that it's being tracked. with that, the need for one folder for each script will be gone. but certain actions must be taken to make that possible yet

Thanks for the response Cristiano, I kind of figured it was something like that. Hopefully enough of the bugs will be out of apup2 soon, so the beta testing can expand a little further to the regular users. Looking forward to it ...

well, right now, the issues are restricted to a few connection issues/av problems, etc. but hopefully, that will be fixed soon and then the tests will become public :) . but right now, i'm running 12 vms just to test it :)

and his title reflects it too. Indeed apup2 is close to public release in beta form. When its in its beta form, it should have all major errors worked out and will only have minor things to work on left. Such as getting it to zip up things and make iso's. Basicly stuff that isn't needed to make apup perform its original role are considered things. I have taken the last few days off from working on it due to getting a much anticipated game Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I finally finished it after playing 43 hours. I will start programming again tomorrow... wait no... its tomorrow already... I will program when I wake up!... since I am now going to sleep.

For sure, Super Helpful Guy is an appropriate title for Cristiano. It's been great that despite quitting (kinda?), he's still active with the whole project. This despite his health and financial woes. Here's hoping both improved dramatically. 12 vms .. wow Posted Image

And you, Viroman .. sleep is overrated. Get back to work slacker, lol. Just kidding, we ain't goin' nowhere.

> 12 vms .. wow
1 for each windows version, if i recall it well, i have one for windows xp starter, home and pro, vista x86, vista x64, w7 x86 and w7 x64. also, i have an windows 2k3 vm and an 2k8 vm, all that running in an obsolete athlon II x2, 4gb ram, integrated vga card and an dying thermaltake w008 (this one has to be replaced asap because it's really dying due old age and is starting to disconnect hds on the fly - i don't recall when i've ordered that, but i've changed from one home to another one 3 times since that. i'm in the current one since at least 4.5 years. in the last one, was 2 years or so and the same thing for the first one. so, that one has something like 9 years). i don't have all the OS's in place yet, because i'm running those vms in trial mode and all trials has an time bomb. the xp x64 vm died a few days ago. a few other ones will die soon, but at least takes just a few minutes to deploy those vms again. oh yes, i'm testing issues with av too. we already found an issue with NIS 2011, that i've bypassed in one vm, but i don't know if this worked in other systems. but i've found another one with KIS 2012 (no problem with 2011), that we are trying to figure yet. after that, more vms and more security suites to test with

my financial problems are being solved one by one now, but will take months to recover. at least, this month my wins will increase in about 30% and that will help a lot. i will order an power supply just to fix the immediate problems in a few days, but the problem about limited money is that you have to make concessions to everything work. at least, that system requires less than 100W to work. according to extreme power calculator, my system requires 383W in worst case scenario, so i will order something based on that. right now, i really don't care if in an future upgrade i will be forced to buy another one, but since i don't run recent games, i don't have any plans to that anyway

Bit of an unwelcome side-effect of Common Modules for me is the forced download of x64 modules, which is pointless on an x86 Autopatcher install. Not funny via dailup.

bad side effect in deed. but WU download link is for x64 and x86. so, the major problem is mrt. that will be fixed. but right now, the beta testing is taking a lot of time

but thanks to your report, we are aware of that and so this can be fixed :)
