There is an older pole from 2007 but I would like updated information. Currently APUP supports windows 2000 up to windows 7. APUP2 currently has the ability to support the same. Adding additional support for older windows is no problem. Maintaining a script for a defunct windows should be extremely easy since they will only update once in a blue moon if ever. I plan to move alot of APUP2's detections out into scripts so that people will only have to create scripts that tell APUP2 where to look. No one will have to maintain the apup2 code so much. That is for down the road though. Right now I want to know what you guys use. So I can add support code for it.

rather disappointed at the low number of people who voted. 7 days and only 9 people vote? :(

Ooops, I read the post a week ago - but wasn't signed in at the time. I hope your more recent post reminds those like myself that forgot to vote.

Thanks for all the work over the years. I've been using and touting AP for a long time. With XP I especially liked the collection of registry tweaks that could be easily reversed. If similar registry tweak sections were added to the Windows 7 releases the project might regain lost popularity.

adding the tweeks to windows 7 would be a trivial matter. We would just need to collect all the known tweeks.

With regards to the autopatcher poll and the low number of people that have voted (I am one of them)
might I suggest this is transfered to the autopatcher news section with a different title.
The present title doesn't immediately Indicate that a vote is being asked for and only becomes apparent after reading it.

Couldn't it be titled AUTOPATCHER USAGE POLL.

I may be wrong but I think this would attract more attention

Hope this helps.

I would like to have been of more help but have absolutely no knowledge of programming or script writing.

I have been a user of Apup for a few years now and am looking forward to trying the update and would like to thank ViroMan for all his work.

hmm perhaps you are right. I have renamed it, but moving it should be no different.

Writing a script is as easy as typing in notepad or wordpad... no really it is. All you need is to know where to look to find where things are installed, then modify/make a script to detect and download... its really quite easy... if you want, cristiano or domenico could walk you through the very short learning process for it. I know they would KILL to have some help. The hardest part is finding how to detect an installed file.... be it registry or file locations/version. Again... easy things but just tedious work.

It would be good to have program have all the tweeks. Have not seen one yet that does them all. lol This would save on have to install many programs. Up to you if you want to add tweeks to the program.

Would you care to help by finding all the tweeks?

One place to find many tweaks (not tweeks) for Win7 is at: http://www.wincert.n...dows-7-toolkit/ - a number of them have been included in the W7Toolkit by its author and he got them as many users/testers of the W7Toolkit posted their own tweaks or links to sources.

Check out this program for tweaks. It even shows you the registry pot for the tweaks,

Don't be. I've had no problems with autopatcher - hence no reason to browse the forum. I did check in and I voted, once I found the post.

ViroMan,
i just want to say how much i appreciate your work here.
i am a regular user, though i usually just run apup2 and never hit the forums.
i think there may be more than a few users like me.
we run apup2 and update our systems and rarely need to actually visit this web site.
i hope you will continue to provide updates.
thank you again.
regards.

Thanks for the support.
If you don't mind me asking... what version of apup2 are you using and are there any problems with it? Also what OS do you have?
Reason I ask is some have reported problems but, then there are others who have no problems. I can't seem to replicate any problems on my end. :(

I'm not a new member, I don't log on very often only when I have a problem. As my ISP has changed a couple of times my membership was more than likely under an old email address. I help a number of friends with thier PC problems and often reformatt and program PC's I've used autopatcher for several years. I us XP, Vista and Win7. But within the last month my XP version shows an error (a problem with autopatcher main module) and won't load after I have downloaded over 300 Mgs. of updates from Microsoft then it will load and run. I'm stuck with a less than good wireless broadband service (all thats available in my area other than dialup) so the MS downloads take up to 24hrs. Whats the Fix! do I need a certian download from MS to correct the problem? Also wheres the link for updated Autopatcher I've tried several times to update my current version is updater 1.3.0.1 and engine 5.6.0.100 .
Thanks for your help Rustygun

Autopatcher.ece has not been updated in a while. I am creating a new one but, its on hold for the moment due to nearly no access to my computer. The errors you are receiving are probably the minor errors about download sizes being different. That error is just an annoying error that does not actually affect apup/autopatcher. I hope to have that fixed in the newer release of Autopatcher. It should stop giving size errors and instead report directly to us that there was a change in the file.
