Translation Packs
Translator Packs are aimed at making life easier for AutoPatcher Translators. They are designed to give a translator everything thats needed in order to translate the latest AutoPatcher release into his/her native language, in one small download.

* Information removed, will put things back once new translation packs based on the new AutoPatcher version 5.6 releases have been created, or then again, perhaps i'll just move it to the website... *

I'd like to translate AutoPatcher into Russian and also into Georgian.
I'll be able to do this after exam session, in February. It'll yake approximately 1 month.
What program I need to do this?

Gogi, just the english version (full download, to you have the modules), notepad, patience, an browser, an md5 tool, an genuine windows and "follow as sample". to catch the download links, an download manager (paused, otherwise you may not see the link) or patience to grab the links manually

Hi all,

Is a translator's pack available, anyway?
I would like to make a translation for XP SP3 and Office 2007 for Russian locale.
I have the coding skills to make it automatically, to script-edit all the "/modules/**/*.apm" files, even with automatically downloading&renaming&checking eveything in the text files, but the whole process will definitely take a bloody lot of time.

If something is available for the translators (e.g. even a FAQ with "where to put your results" etc. :) ), please point me to it.

Thanks,
H.

there are some translation packs for autopatcher. I will see what we got and how to help you do it when I can get some free time with a computer instead of my phone.

I have not found any tools for creating any translation files... still looking. I did find the source code for reading translation files though... so if worse comes to worse(and it probably will) I will create a tool to read/create one.

I will need my computer for that though... and im not allowed to set up my compuer. Since they want me as unconfortable as can be possible so I will leave sooner. haha I might have done the same.

I've not found the translation pack on my PC... but... I can help you to start your translation.
Please, can you send me a private message with an instant messenger contact (like MSN or Skype).

I did not have time to make any progress.
But I still plan to make a crawler-like script that will try to find & download all localized updates on MS's site just by searching the already available English AutoPatcher modules.

The most painful seems to be the following sections of the *.apm files:

-- variables under [DetectionFile]

and
-- ComponentFile under [SystemComponents]

I do not currently know how to fill them automatically (if they really are different for different languages??? maybe even not ), but I see two ways here:
-- either try to locate some of the details from the manifest files stored inside the update *.exe distributives
-- or install them silently and then parse the install logs in "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKBXXXXXXXXX$\spuninst\spuninst.inf" file or in some other place

And I have not looked into *.rti files yet.

What is your goal exactly? Are you trying to make a translation pack or are you trying to make an automated APM creator.
rti files store hash signatures. They are generated in a proprietary way and are distributed by the autopatcher team so that users know that what they have is official.

the variables you talk about under detectionfile and componentfile are only discovered after installing the updates to discover the difference. :(

Someone else is also working on a way to parse the Microsoft's update stream to auto create scripts and apms. Don't be discouraged though, take it as incentive to step on the creative gas pedal.
