Latest Autopatcher and updates.

Microsoft Windows - Critical Updates > Security Update for .NET Framework 2.0 (KB928365) show in black and with checkmark. Numerous attempts with AutoPatcher's install routine does not change this situation - I can only assume there is some kind if problem somewhere with determining if the update is or is not installed.

Microsoft Windows - Recommended updates > Software Updates for Web Folders (KB892211) and Update for Windows XP/2003/Vista (KB928939) and Update for Windows XP (KB931836) and Software update for Web Folders (KB907306) all show as needing to be installed and are displayed in black. Numerous attempts with AutoPatcher's install routine does not change this situation - I can only assume there is some kind if problem somewhere with determining if the updates are or are not installed.

Numerous attempts with AutoPatcher's install routine to install Rights Management does not change this situation - I can only assume there is some kind if problem somewhere with determining if the update is or is not installed; Messenger 5.1.0706 is installed on my system but appears to not be detected as such by AutoPatcher.

Microsoft Windows - Updated Components > Windows Live Messenger (v8.1.0178.00) is obsolete; latest version I have is Windows Live™ Messenger 8.5.1302.1018

Windows Addons > Google IE Toolbar v4.0.1601.4978 is obsolete; I have Google Toolbar 5.0.1112.3348 for Internet Explorer installed.

Windows Addons > Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet for Windows XP shows as needing to be installed and is displaed in black, that's an error, this item is installed on my system and has been for weeks if not months.

Windows Addons > Microsoft Windows User State Migration Tool (v2.6.1) and (v3.0.1) are both listed; why?

Windows Addons > TweakUI > TweakUI 2.10 shows as needing to be installed and is displayed in black; this is an error, TweakUI has been installed for weeks if not months.

Windows Addons > Microsoft Silverlight shows as needing to be installed and is displayed in black; this is an error, Silverlight has been installed for weeks.

Windows Live Messenger - since ms is releasing this one with his own downloader, we can't include this one in autopatcher. so, i suppose that you have an outdated version that was updated in some way and this one wasn't deleted.

KB928365 - not included anymore. it was replaced by this ones: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806) ; Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806) ; Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)

KB892211 - not included anymore

KB928939 - not included anymore

KB931836 - not included anymore

KB907306 - included, but there's an trick at this one: if you have ms office 2007 you have v12.0.6215.1000. if you don't have and never has installed ms office 2007, then you may have v12.0.4518.1019 (or something. there's an slight difference of versions in foreign languages like my own). in my version, i've added detection for booth versions, because i know that someone will ask why this one is not being installed or something, like you did

Google IE Toolbar - thanks god this one is not included anymore

probably because of the same reason why you still have obsolete modules included in your version: you have downloaded apup over an older version of autopatcher. i believe that you did that to save some download, but not all versions of our scripts have support for that. to the english version, so far i know, there's not support for that. this is an feature from pt-pt and pt-br version. and pt-br has support only for july/august/2007 (limited support for august, since i don't have this version to be sure)

Just finished up a lot of updates plus the 2k3 x86 Server pack which should be live soon. In other words, I'm tired and about to hit the hay soon but I wanted to answer your question first... Hope you all appreciate the hard work I put into these packs. I love doing them but doing them while being sick... cry... (it's worth it)

Cristiano basically hit the nail on everything. Here are a couple of my comments I wanted to add:

- KB931836 - Was replaced by KB933360

- As for the other two, I'll look at them in the morning but I'm sure there's a good reason

- KB907306 - Thanks for the tip Cristiano! This makes total sense which I implemented in the ENU packs. @DesertJerry - Go ahead and run another update to receive the updated module

- Microsoft Silverlight - Are you sure you have this version of Silverlight? THis version is the non beta version 1.0 and not the one that is in beta which is 1.1?

- Microsoft Windows User State Migration Tool (v2.6.1) and (v3.0.1) - My next project I'm going to undertake the older version of ap to the current version of ap. (aka running apup over the old version in order to minimize the download) Do remember that this is still in beta and that updating these buggers will take time. I"ll do my best to get this implemented soon though.

none, but take a look at this reg key:

take a look at DisplayVersion and if possible, report it

probably one of those is obsolete. but i didn't add this one in my version, so, i didn't an detection for the new version yet

the last time that i saw the detection for this one, it was an registry key done to autopatcher. so, if you someday has installed this one without ap, ap will never know about

I appriciate the work you are doing DesertJerry. This will help AP in the long run but please don't copy and paste everything all over again. This makes the thread confusing even though you noted that **'s were new comments.

Silverlight - You never did answer my question, do you have the beta version or not? I updated the Silverlight module. Please redownload again. If the module is still not showing as installed, please try to run the executable manually and tell us what error is appearing.

KB907306 - We probably will have to go back and forth on this one for a couple of threads. Please try to install the executable manually and tell us what happens. Do you get any errors or does nothing happen and it installs just fine?

Microsoft Color Control Panel - I think I know why this wasn't showing up. I added file based detection so go ahead and run another apup update and try again.

Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services Client with Service Pack 2 - x86 and Windows Messenger 5.1.0706 - Delete both and try again

TweakUI - I just noticed that i don't have this included. I"ll have it added in the near future

The following are the comments I made about Silverlight in my earlier message. (Last item)

After reading answers I went to the folder holding your included version of Silverlight and ran the executable - error message said it could not be installed as I had a newer version installed. Please tell me how I check version - in the \Silverlight folder there are only a couple of DLLs (version 1.0.30109.0) and the SLUP.EXEfile. The \Silverlight folder in the registry also says version 1.0.30109.0

I do not have {2C6BODB3-ETC}; Messenger 5.1.0706 is at {A44413DC-17D5-4F0B-A128-8B590B20323C}


KB907306 executable run from AutoPatcher\NonCritical\KB907306_enu_files and indicated successful install. Reran APUP then AutoPatcher - still in black, indicating not installed.

Windows Right (KB917275) module deleted and APUP run again then AutoPatcher - this time Rights Management in blue - indicates installed.

Messenger 5.1.0706 not deleted - see comment above to Cristiano about registry key but after rerunning APUP the AutoPatcher Messenegr 5.1.0706 is blue indicating install.

Silverlight now in blue indicating installed after APUP rerun after actions taken above. Things are matched, for now.

Will continue with checks.

All of you working AutoPatcher are doing good - keep it up.

I just took a registry snapshot before and after KB907306.

@DesertJerry - Can you tell me if you have either of these two registry keys:

If you do, then look at the DisplayVersion:

Either: 12.0.4518.1014 or 12.0.6215.1000 currently is being shown as installed. I'm interested in what your registry says DesertJerry. The reason why the other updates you reported earlier wasn't working has to do with how your computer is registering zeros. I'm assuming your registry might say something like DisplayVersion: 12.4518.1014 or 12.04518.1014 - Something like this

If you have installed the update, there should be more to it than just that; Office 2003 or not.

Screen shot - why? I said what is there.

Since I posted my last things have changed a bit.

Microsoft Update reported I needed to upgrade Office 2003 with SP3. (Though I rememebr doing this right after I had initially installed Office 2003) So, I went back to my download of Office 2003 SP3 and opted for Repair; SP3 did its thing and one item I remember seeing had something to do with Web Folders. Went back to Microsof Update and the report about Office 2003 SP3 no longer appeared. (But AutoPatcher still reports KB 907306 in black.)

Came back here to check in, read posting, decided to re-read registry - now there are only two keys starting 90120000, one has -0020-0409 as the next sequence and the other has -00A4-0409; the one that had 0010 is gone; I'm assuming because of the repair using the SP3 update.

The 0020 key has a DisplayVersion 12.0.6215.1000 and the 00A4 key has 12.0.6213.1000

After all this I gues I will not have to try, again, to use AutoPatcher and update KB907306. Sure makes me wonder: what's going on?

I'm back - new info.

Ran APUP then AutoPatcher - KB 907306 still black, selected, Autopatcher installed same, rebooted, started AutoPatcher, KB907306 still black (obviously not installed).

Selected Microsoft Update - no Office 2003 SP3 required. (So that stayed ok)

Registry showed the return of key {90120000-0010-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}
DisplayName still Microsoft Software Update for Web Folders (English) 12 (as reported earlier)
DisplayVersion is nonexistent (as reported earleir)

Screen print is not required (as requested earlier) - why would I report incorrect information? My comments are what I saw in the registry.

This is what the {90120000-0010-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE} key looks like in my system.
Both Office 2003 and Office 2007 will have the same structure as this.

I asked for a screenshot wasn't because I didn't trust you (or whatever it was that made you ticked-off), but I simply curious about what it (the {90120000-0010-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE} key) looks like in your system.

You're probably frustrated on not having things to work like it should, but don't steam it off to people who're trying to help you.

Screen shot - I have no idea as to how that is done (I mentioned this in an earlier posting about a different problem - no idea then, none now)

Also, seeing as how there were only the lines I mentioned I saw no point in trying to figure out how to even do a screen shot seeing as the PrtScrn button had no effect. (I do remember that way back in earlier versions of DOS/Windows PrtScrn did something about the screen but the functionality no longer does anything, at least as far as I've been able to discover.)

Different subject.

After commenting on and reviewing answers and doing more research on the problem with KB907306 I Googled Web Folders and searched Microsoft and I'm more puzzled.

I have no Web Folders. I've never created any Web Folders. I have no server; though I'm running XP Pro w/SP2 I've never set up IIS as I have no reason to do so.

So, given the above, why is that item even appearing as an update and have I been thrashing around trying to solve a non-existent problem?

you don't need. windows xp does it for you by default.

because the problem is in there. you know that "show as internet..." option? if i'm not mistaken, that service uses webfolders...
