Hi All

After downloading a wopping 1.7gig update (i suspect it includes the kitchen sink...;-D), what is supposed to happen next?

Maybe some compile in the script? I am sitting with all the files. How do I install it?

I could slipsteam it to a current install CD, but that was not the origional intention was it?

Just run autopatcher.exe that's inside the folder you downloaded all those files into. =)

apup.exe was intentionally for the purpose of updating any previous APs.
Which means, if you have, say, the last August Core, then you can update it with apup by extracting the .zip file into the same directory as autopatcher.exe.

That said, AP is designed to be portable, so you can put it in a flash disk and run AP in any supported Windows system.

Is this autopatcher.exe downloaded when i run apup.exe? If so, some of the files did not download after all......bummer!

By default apup will download autopatcher.exe to the folder where you placed apup.exe.
If you didn't uncheck anything in apup, autopatcher.exe should be there.

It's this autopatcher.exe that you need to run AP.

Don't do this.

Instead...Get an "up-to-date" Autopatcher release for your OS using "Apup" first.

Hi mIKE....

I ran/downloaded the files on a ext USB drive, and all seemed fine.

What will the exe file be to run, to do the updates on an off-line pc?

Sorry for the "dumb" question..!


UPDATE: Re-ran the apup.exe on pc connected to internet., and I have an autopatcher.exe....

Wil try that on a offline pc.......Thanks


UPDATE 2: Running the autopatcher.exe on offline pc works. GOOD!

Now: next question : If I keep the first 'batch' of downloaded files, will apup.exe, when I run it again, add new updates to the same library as it becomes available?

You will run "apup.exe" often to collect the latest files from microsoft.com and autopatcher.com,
and also have the "apup" program do some house cleaning by removing old files and replacing
them with their new counterparts. When you fire-up "apup.exe" you should see hard drive
activity. This is "Apup" following the instructions written into those very important "scripts" that
the very smart guys here write. Run "apup.exe" often to keep the "Apup" program running smooth
and the "Autopatcher" program (((Up-To-Date))).

and updated "Components" like ".Net" or "DirectX". Also offers the ability to "tweak" the registry via
