Problem installing Patches.

jb2011's Photo jb2011 23 Jan 2012

Hi, Today I installed AutoPatcher for Windows 7 Home Premium onto a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium. Windows has downloaded a large number of patches to windows 7 Home Premium, however, I wanted to have AutoPatcher check to make sure I have all the patches to date so I can take a backup of my C:drive.

When I launched AutoPatcher it told me I still had 4 patches to install! I let AutoPatcher perform the update and rebooted. Launching AutoPatcher again told me I still had the same 4 patches to install ! I installed again and rebooted then ran AutoPatcher and still the same 4 patches was shown as needing to be installed. The 4 patches are listed below.

Please can you tell me what I need to do to resolve this problem.

List of Patches that will not install.

Vulnerability in OLE Automation Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2476490)

Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Too

Windows update agent v7.4.7600.229 (x86)

1) Check for this file c:\windows\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Package_for_KB2476490~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.0.cat <--- if you don't have that file then its not installed.

2) Well I just checked and the MRT that we have listed is older then the current one. Domenico made a newer script but, its not up for some reason. Older MRT's won't install on top of newer ones.

3) Check for this file c:\windows\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Package_for_KB2618444~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.2.cat <--- if you don't have that file then its not installed. (yes its different then first one)

4) Check for this file c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll <-- Right click on this file and then hit the "Version" tab. The version should be 7.4.7600.229

If you have those files/versions tell me and we can go from there.

I don't have this file above (3)

The file you say I should have in 4) I have however the version number is 7.5.7601.17514

If you have those files/versions tell me and we can go from there.

Hope this helps. John.

Oh!! I've forgotten these issues but I've modified the release last month.
I have removed KB2618444 (replaced byKB2647516).
MRT has been updated.
Windows update agent v7.4.7600.229 (x86) has been updated to v7.4.7600.243.

Can you retry now?

Hi I tried again with v7.4.7600.243 but unfortunately I have two updates not installing, they are KB2476490 KB2562937. I tried a couple of times and each time your program flagged the two updates still to install each time.

Regards
John.
