Problems with Autopatcher.exe and Apup.exe

Tom Hodgers's Photo Tom Hodgers 02 Feb 2008

Hello,

After a vacation of about 4 months from using Autopatcher, today I downloaded Apup.zip and unzipped it to the Autopatcher folder.

When I try to run Autopatcher I receive the following error message " YIKES! ..... Where: mdlEnvironmentDetection.getEnvironment()
Error Code: 0x1C9: This key is already associated with an element of this collection ".

When I try to run Apup.exe I receive this message " Run Time Error 457
This key is already associated with an element of this collection "

How can I get around these problems?

If I uninstall Autopatcher I can't re-install, as I don't have the original installer.

Thanks for all help,

Tom

Run APUP.EXE in an empty folder. It will download scripts and present you with a box of checkable items to download. Check what is necessary for your system and select Next. Downloads may take a while.

Then run AUTOPATCHER.EXE which is downloaded along with everything else amd make your upgrade/install selections.

I un-installed the old Autopatcher program and tried opening APUP.exe in a new folder, but I still receive the Run Time Error "457" - This key is already associated with an element of this collection - error message.

What are the registry keys that I may have to manually delete?

AFAIK, APUP doesn't use any reg keys. I'm assuming the error is relating to an array inside APUP.

Hi Guys,

Have just downloaded latest version of Apup.zip (creation date 4 Feb 2008) but I still have the same problem, of receiving the Run Time Error "457" - This key is already associated with an element of this collection - error message, when I run apup.exe.

Can anybody please help me out here?

I'm running XP Home SP3.

Thanks,

Tom

@Tom I've personally have had no issues with running APUP on SP3 but I would perfer to wait until SP3 goes gold before we continue this troubleshooting ;)
