Where to download? What sites can I trust?

I'm new to all of this, so bear with me please.
From browsing and reading this forum I understand you need one of the full Autopatcher programs (Ex. August 2007 full or update) to be able to use the early beta APUP updater, right? So can somebody recommend some trusted sites where I can get one of the past releases full AP program so I can then move ahead using the APUP updater? Everytime I download from Softpedia it does not complete the download (stops from 3-5MB) and MajorGeeks only has the May full version.
Is "File Forum" a trusted source? I see they have the August 2007 full release.
Also to make sure the file havent been modified, can somebody tell me the md5 of the last official release (August 2007)?
I'm trying to reformat my computer but I'm still a dial-up user. I dont want to sit down for 10+ hours on Windows Update to get the updates I need, so to have everything from 2004 to August 2007 would really help me.
Thanks

You can download the latest version only on the announcement part of this forum. All of those 2007 versions are outdated.

Find a friend with a high-speed connection, have him/her download APUP.ZIP, unzip to a new folder you/he/she create called \AutoPatcher then Run APUP.EXE
When all the files are downloaded, which could take an hour or more depending on the connection speed and what is actually selected
, copy/burn the \AutoPatcher folder to a CD and take it back to your place to do all the upddates.
As mentioned above, the 2007 files are obsolete and should not be used.
