Odd - I downloaded the Update 1 files pointed to in posting #115, which were close to the being the same size as the earlier Visual C++ 2012 redistributable files and proceeded to install them as is; no indication they were web installers.

well they must have swapped out for a web installer then.
using your link it gives me a web installer at 1mb.
that was for the VS, I forgot to check into the VC++.

I noticed on list2, 2 scripts that download the C++ redists, am I wrong about this?

You are correct _def_x_... The release was renamed

yes, sorry it was changed due to MS adding another type of redistributables so I just combined and changed names.
