I am using apup 1.3.0.1 with Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Actually Windows XP Home Edition SP 2 native, since the sp 3 is so large a download I prefer to install it from CD but I guess that doesn't matter since apup will only download for SP3. Other files I don't bother to d/l with apup are .net 3.5 and DirectX which I also install from CD since they are such large files.

Today while trying to update apup I keep getting: "Verification Failed. One or more files has failed verification. Please re-run Autopatcher Updater. If this problem persists, please report to the forums at AutoPatcher.com."

The update file that apup.exe is trying to Fetch when the error occurs is msie_enu_critical_20120214.7z from www.autopatcher.com..." I doubt the 7z extension is a problem as I have a 7zip tool on the system. Can some one please help me resolve this problem. apup log is attached.

I was updating that script... please try again now. Also it doesn't matter if you have 7z... the tool itself has 7za.exe a command line version of 7zip so your good either way.

I just tried again and apup.exe fetched some file of about 2.058 KB then it attempted to fetch jre-7u3-windows-586.exe from download.oracle.com.... when the same error occurred. I tried again, and again it attempted to fetch jre-7u3-windows-583.exe from download.oracle.com.... when, again the same error occurred. jre-7u3-windows-586.exe is not currently on my system, could this be the problem? Must jre-7u3-windows-586.exe ready be on my system? Also, my system is i386 not i586, could this be the problem? might I have made an incorrect selection on AutoPatcher Updater? Attached are my selections on AutoPatcher Updater.

no I can almost guarantee your system is i586 or rather better then that.

Definition for: i386 -- 1985
Nickname for the 80386. A 32-bit microprocessor from Intel with a clock speed of 33 MHz.The 80386 is used in PCs.

The Pentium Pro. Successor to the Pentium microprocessor; also called P6 or 80686.The 686 has internal RISC architecture and a CISC-RISC translator. It is faster than the Pentium for 32-bit software but slower for 16-bit software.

then you have the i3's, I5's i7's this is the current generation of chips.

What all this means is that, anything compiled for an i386 is guaranteed to work for any higher level processor. It has become a sort of standard. If you compile your code to work for an i686 system your code will be much more optimized and faster on that system and higher but will not work for anything below it.

Can you post the log of your errors so I can see exactly what is going on? When you run apup use the batch file that generates log files. Then find and attach the log file to your next post.

Thank you, for the heads up on the x86 stuff, some interesting info at those links. I'm using an emachines T3624 2.66 GHz with Celeron ® Procerssor with a preinstalled XP Home version 2002 that I bought new in 2006. All I know is the system folder has an i386 folder, maybe thats why the computer only cost $350. In any case, it beats the hell out of my old Gateway PIII 800 Mhz with Windows Mellenium that I paid a couple grand for in 2000 and still use for book keeping,

Just tried again to update apup and got the same error. The log file is attached.

Honestly, anything beats Windows Millennium even windows 95. Also... I don't see an attached log file. If you want to attach a log file you need to hit the more reply options button below the text window. Wait fro the screen to reload and you will see a button that will allow you to attach files.

Alternatively you can copy the entire contents into the text box here and then make sure to include the spoiler tags

Can you search that directory "C:\apup\modules\AddOns\Java_Files" for files and list them? I will check the java script in a while to see if there is something wrong there... although no one else has complained since it has been up.

uhh ohhh... Looks like Oracle has disabled direct downloading again. They want you to agree to the Oracle Technical Network license to download from them. Problem is... even if I agree to the license... it won't let me download. lol.

ViroMan I checked the Oracle site and tried to download the jre update 3... you have to agree to the license and I was able to download both the x86 and x64 files...just to let you know.
The agreement to the license should disappear once you agree,then select the files you want to download

Viroman, I checked the C:\apup\modules\AddOns\Java_folder and it is empty. Judging from whatacrock says I guess the item has to be d/l'd manually. Thank you all for help and patience.

PS: Does this have anything with me being in Iran? I just found out that Adobe has blocked IP addresses from Iran, but is it the same with Microsoft?

1245 is the standard size for a server error message. It probably says 404(file doesn't exist) or a 500 series error(file was moved)
386 is a really small file size for an error so you may be right in saying you were blocked.

KB890830(both of them) is the Malicious file removal tool. This has indeed moved.. err that is to say it has been updated to a newer version. We just have not updated the script yet since no one seems to have time.
The KB2667402 is probably in the same boat. It probably has been either removed or updated my Microsoft.
