Here is the survey please fill it out. I want to know if its worth my time in making a console version of apup2. If you guys do want it, I can port the generated code to the new AP as well for when that comes out.

Perhaps if you explained what a console version is/would be and how it differs from the current, I would be able to give a considered vote :-)

A good exampel is Take Command - http://jpsoft.com/ - a command processor that runs under XP and Win7 - it is shareware and presents a good example of a console program.

Thanks for the explanation, based on which I personally would not use a console version. I avoid, as far as possible automatic updates of any kind, as I prefer to do these manually at my convenience. So I've voted No. (but maybe that should be 'does not matter to me', so long as the current apup.exe method is retained I would not, of course, wish to prevent others from having a console alternative)

I thought you might look the looks of it. These are the same people that were responsible for 4DOS - back when DOS was all we really had from Microsoft.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, per se, but if a console version exists, and download bars are wanted, something like wget's download bars would look the part

A console version does exist but, it may not make it to the wild again for a while. It will surface again when AP2 starts testing. I will make it a GUI with the option of console only mode. In console only mode it will have only text update bars or some form of silent update(output to a file maybe).
