on latest days, the live messenger 2010 stopped working on windowws vista SP2 (popup from Microsoft to update the product to the 2011 version)
the only way to install the Messenger 2011 is to download ALL the updates using the automatic update (very long time..very slow PC after that)
there is a way to identify the necessary updates to enable the Live Messenger 2011 installation?
Thx in advance for any help

My guess is you want the Live Messenger 2011 full offline installer, I did a quick Google search and a few people are offering it, the question is safety, is the download malware free?
If that doesn't work you could try the Live Essentials 2011 full offline installer, the same goes for that - is it virus & malware free? Otherwise the web installer as a last resort. I think you can select certain applications to install using Live Essentails, in this case Live Messenger 2011 only.
You might also check the RyanVM forum to see if anyone has a direct link for either application.

I just recently(6 days ago) installed live essentials on my grandfathers computer using MS's link.

This is a faq on how to install offline. Its a large download 300+ mb so be ready for it.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be just a messenger option for downloads... you have to download the whole package and then run it and select what you want installed.

when i installed the messenger from " standalone live essentials 2011" (for VISTA from microsoft site) ... launching the MSN (the link created by installer on start) . appears a strange text with something like: It's necessary to install some updates for windows 7 ( 7? ) and there a button that redirect to the windows update web page..
i'm going crazy.. maibe this appears only for the IT version?

Sorry I misstated the installer size, I don't know where I got the 300mb from.
The installer size for English Windows XP is 135mb while the other English installer for the more recent Windows versions is 215mb. Both are in the link I gave.
