AutoPatcher Hotfix thread

This thread will list all the required patches to bring a Windows (XP/2003 x64) system up to date. It will be used as AutoPatcher's hotfix archive, but it could also serve as a reference list.

Please post information on new critical (or recommended) patches here. Refrain from posting things like WMP10 or .NET framework. We're focusing on patches here.

There's a typo in modules\Critical\KB942830_xp_2k3_x64_enu.apm

Line 32 reads:

WindowsVersion=XP_SP2_X86

Whereas it should be:

WindowsVersion=XP_SP2_X64,2K3_SP2_X64

Cheers,

Phil

yep, that is still beta by a main reason: ms just have released the 5 languages version for vista sp2 and the versions that we have for vista runs in other languages. so, test it or even see what is missing or is installing fine is a pain.

ok, there's some leaked languages for sp2, but because we aren't sure that those are final versions, those ones will stay out. but when the other languages reach ms download site, it will be out of beta in a few days after it

I thought I had gone completely over to Win7 x64, but my older hardware makes XP64 still a viable os. I can't do scripting, I don't know how, but I can try to keep us XP64 users up to date none the less. I currently have the XP64 Beta 3 Autopatcher installed, and I downloaded the separate dotnet 3.5 sp1 installer and added that. I used autopatcher to install ie7 and wmp11 and all the hotfixes it had. The following is a screenshot of windows update to show you what needs to be added to Beta 3 at this point:Posted Image
I have ie8 selected, and will probably install it. I am willing to continue testing and evaluating anything anyone wants to do for this project. x64 is the future, already more people are using win7 x64 over the 32 bit version. It's time to leave 32 bit behind! With 4gigs of system ram, and 1.5gigs of video memory, 32bit is not even a consideration for me!

> win7
autopatcher doesn't recognize seven properly

> With 4gigs of system ram, and 1.5gigs of video memory, 32bit is not even a consideration for me!
my friend, once i've said to a client something like that about his system. his answer was something like this "why should i upgrade? i run msn only and most of the time, only basic internet browsing". and he is right. x64 is the future, for sure. but for most of the users, x32 is the reality. even when you buy an brand new machine with an genuine OS, you have to deal with a considerable amount of trouble to reach an x64 OS. at this point, when an considerable amount of money is required to have an machine good enough for games, is more common sense that an dedicated device for that is the way. also, the entire globe is going to an depression that has potential to be huge. even in US, several big companies have broke in the past few months and people are loosing his own homes and jobs. imho, isn't the time for more expenses. but of course, everybody knows his own pocket.

I do not try to use autopatcher for win7, only xp64. And here in Canada, I'm considered a poor person, on disability and unable to work. But the mainstream system anywhere in north america has 4 gigs ram now, that is common. Even lower end video cards such as the geforce 9600gt can have 1gig of memory on them. I consider myself very lucky to have the equipment I have, but it is still mostly obsolete in terms of western standards. I consider xp64 as the stopgap until win7 64, so it has at least another year of life. As I've said, I'll help in any way I can as long as anyone cares. I hope you will not abandon xp64 yet, as it is still supported by microsoft, and will be for years to come as it is based on a server os. Perhaps some others will come forth and offer help???

johnspock, I have XP x64 but haven't installed it yet, I don't have the hardware but I would like to get what we do have of the
XP x64 beta package. I'm on a dialup connection and I'm trying to get all 400+ megs of the beta 3 script (and still use my PC for
other things as well), so I do appreciate your efforts, and so does Cristiano. Once I download all the beta 3 script I will check
Security Updates - Current to see what has been replaced.

I have never really understood the problem but I can barely load anything microsoft.com - even the above link takes 3 or 4
minutes to load, forget MU. So, I really need AutoPatcher because I can't successfully use much of the internet based updating.

It will take me some time and hopefully we will still be up and running around here - but who knows for how much longer?

Mike
