Decided to run a test. Booted into Windows 8 Release Preview 64-bit and ran AutoPatcher. Found that if I edited the appropriate APM file to read:
[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=ANY
SystemLanguage=ANY
the APMs for Java, Flash, and Silverlight correctly listed the installed programs.
This will probably work for other items that are not operating system specific.

yes by editing the apm to read ANY it will work... however those updates will now show up for any os not just ones they work for. Just something to keep in mind.

just curious... can you post what AP log detected in win 8? Looking at the code I know it doesn't support it but, it can read the windows product name.

something like this

ViroMan;

I'll have to get back to you later tonight or tomorrow. Win8 is on my #2 system and circumstances may delay anything on that one for a day or two.

Also. I have to correct my earlier - FlashIE does not detect installs on Win8 - seems it is installed as part of Internet Explorer and is not in the 'usual' location - will have to try to determine possible location for verification. FlashNotIE detects OK.

Also, Adobe Reader and AIR are detected when Operating System is changed to Any.

Win8 also installs .NET Framework 4.5 as an included item - not a separate download. Looks like it also included .NET 2.0 and 3.0 - so that could pose detection issues too. Will have to pay closer attention next time I install anything or check for commonalities.

Will also look for .log file during next Win8 AutoPatcher run.

ViroMan,
Sorry about the multiple postings but I was in Win8 and signed on with IE10 and was unable to perform any editing within my previous postings. Have no idea if this is a difficulty with IE10 or a function/feature I have not yet figured out.
