I am a technician that is constantly restoring computers (15+ per week). As such, anything that can be automated to save time is a huge help. One area that I am interested in, is Windows Updates,
I understand that AutoPatcher will download and install updates, and also save the updates to a directory, My question is :
Does AutoPatcher check a local directory FIRST for necessary updates that need to be installed BEFORE downloading any new (or missing updates) from Microsoft update?
Downloading updates typically takes a lot longer than installing them from a local directory. My end goal is to have a USB drive that contains all Windows Updates previously downloaded, and have a program (potentially AutoPatcher) automatically install them. Then, check for new updates; if there are any, download them to the flash drive and install them on the system.
This way, I have a rolling, constantly up to date USB drive with all updates I need - and automatically download any that I don't have for the next time.
Downloading updates once and caching them locally has to be faster than redownloading them every time I need them!
Thanks for any light you can shed on this,
