one or more file(s) failed verification -...

Lmbrt's Photo Lmbrt 20 Sep 2012

Hi everyone,

This is my first time with you and, as a newbie, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you very much for this incredibly helpful initiative and for the efforts that you have put into it.

I had my first go with AP a couple of nights ago and I got stuck to the downloading phase as I got the (in)famous "one or more file(s) failed verification" message. Hence I decided to post this request of information before moving on to the installation phase.

After a very long list of "Missing's" and "Adding's" (which in my ignorance I deemed as absolutely normal; please correct me if otherwise), Log would recite:

...

Missing file C:\AutoPatcher\apup\xp_x86_ita.rti
Item RTI file is missing or its parts are not completely downloaded. Adding whole download for this item to the queue.
--Adding http://www.autopatch...a_20120803.7z--

***Downloading Releases***

Files to be Downloaded: 202
C:\AutoPatcher\apup\modules\windows_components.apm already exists. Deleting before re-download.
C:\AutoPatcher\apup\modules\windows_critical.apm already exists. Deleting before re-download.
Download queue processed. Proceeding to next phase.

Download Error: C:\AutoPatcher\apup\modules\Components\__msxml.apm
File size does NOT match. Expecting 1483, but found 1475!!!

***Processing Cleanup Routines***

Extracting C:\AutoPatcher\apup\temp_bin\apengine_rti.7z into C:\AutoPatcher\apup\

...

So, is this "File size does NOT match" a really compromising issue or should I (we) bravely ignore the message and go on with installing?

One more question: is there any AutoPatching chance for Office 2010?

Thank you in advance for all answers and sorry for being a pestering newbie (bet we all are sometimes in our lives).

Long live AutoPatcher ! Posted Image

Hey Lmbrt....first off welcome to the forums and now down to the nitty gritty. It is okay for you to install the updates--one or more filles failed verification occurs when the files have been altered at the MS server end and our scripts haven't been updated to reflect the changes.
The file sizes do occassionally get mismatched as the maintainer may have missed the aleration of filesize in the script(happened more than once on the ones I have worked on).
Just to be need to be patient to see if anyone is going to release a script for Office 2010 as there are only a few people maintaining the scripts and everyone has a life outside of this project.
Hope that this has helped out answering your queries.

A note when using apup...good practice is the run on the same release twice...as the saying goes: check twice before cutting

The .apm file might have been changed recently, if I'm not mistaken, something to do with 'autoexpand'. Just make sure you have 1 apm file in place and then don't run APUP to download. The 'XP Enu' release has the file at size=1475, 'XP Ita', size=1483, the Enu or Ita script needs an edit I think. Once both releasees have the same info then you can rerun APUP, otherwise one script will delete and then redownload '__msxml.apm' because the size and md5 are wrong according to the script.

When/~/If AutoPatcher code is updated for Office 2010 as well a script is created, then you will see a release in APUP, until then...???

Also, don't edit the log file, it helps to see all the details of a failing release - read http://www.autopatch...-apup-log-file/ & http://www.autopatch...es-please-read/ for more info.

Many thanks to Whatacrock and _def_x_ for their answers!

My mistake not having read the instructions about the log file. Posted Image

Morevover I completely forgot to mention that I had picked the following releases:
apup.script
apengine.script
common/autopatcher_common_20120911.script
italian/autopatcher_xp_x86_ita_20120803.script

As a matter of fact the .apm file IS in place and it is 1.475 bytes as expected.

Just out of curiosity I did try to download again and this what I got which is perfectly in line with your observations about MD5 and size:

APUP Has Started
Version: 1.3

Operating System: English (1033) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Current Locale: English - United Kingdom / Non-Unicode Default: English - United Kingdom

Well,

Everything seems to go as smooth as silk but for the red note "Release Non ufficiale/Non supportata" which is Italian for Unofficial / Unsupported Release...

Do you think that's related to the above mentioned file verification failure?

If I may ask, the tweak registry section in APUP corresponds to Tweak UI?

Thanks again for your patience.

changed the Italian XP script to fix that "File size does NOT match" error. Also... for some reason the rti file didn't carry some of the files in its list... this should be fixed now as well.

See if that makes you official now.

@lmbrt -- if posting a log please use the spoiler code as I have done with your latest post..... (spoiler) Your log text here (/spoiler)......please replace the ()"brackets with the [] ones..

The Common files script has been updated and so has parts of of the Windows XP (SP3) Italian release.

They can be found on releases2.list....as I see you are running 1.4.0 then use this batch file to download the required releases..... download the archive..extract the contents to your apup folder ..execute the batch file and releases2.list will load for you...select the releases which you require and click next to download..A liitle advice run apup twice on each release you donload as will eliminate any errors before posting your log file if needed.

Common Files release is dated 20130108 (Jan 8 2013) and Windows XP SP3 ita is dated 20130104 (Jan4 2013)

Will follow your instructions and keep you posted.

PD As my last comment on files has been included in the Spoiler, how do I get it out to avoid confusing it in the Log?

Thank you very much indeed Whatacrok!

Grateful regards.
