Unsupported Operating Systems and Office?

West Swan's Photo West Swan 23 Sep 2012

Hello,

Firstly, I love this program and always use it for my friends and families computers :-)

My question is about the number of OS and Office no longer supported by Microsoft and therefore the potential for security holes etc.

I refer to:

Windows 2000

Office XP

SP1 addon pack for Office 2007

SP2 addon pack for Office 2007

With the latter two would it not be better anyhow to download and install SP3 and then use the Autopatcher 2007 SP3 to apply the post SP3 updates. I base that on the Autopatcher 2007 SP3 just being the post SP3 updates. If it included SP3 then there would be no need to download SP3 separately from Microsoft.

Just some thoughts. Perhaps people still use Windows 2000 and Office XP and could benefit from these older modules.

Cheers,

Paul

You are correct that these things are no longer supported but, that does not mean they are no longer used.
In regards to Office 2007 SP3 we support that with a script that is usable after Office SP3 is installed. There has been some debate in adding SP's on the list but, it has not been decided yet.

Thank you.

I guess if SP3 for Office 2010 was to be on the list it may make life a little easier for someone who has their original Office 2007 dvd or downloaded file from having to download the service pack separately. But, at least in my humble opinion, not a high priority task :-)

It is good that service packs for office are cumulative otherwise it would make things a lot different.

Take care,

Paul
