I've been fighting this error all weekend.

"Download Error c:\APUP\APUP-Win7\Modules\stand_alone.apm"
"File size does not match. Expected 1276, but found 1277!!!"

I get this everytime I try to download, I've even pulled the stand_alone.apm files down manually from Autopatcher and the file size is incorrect to what Autopatcher "thinks" it's supposed to be.

Can someone please correct this error so I can get the rest of my files downloaded and start using Autopatcher.

Have just checked the file size for the stand_alone apm and it is indeed 1276.
Not sure how you are getting 1277 continually.
A suggestion...delete the apm and reun apup again just selecting the stand_alone releases which you originally downloaded.
Another piece of advice is to rerun again after and check the apup to see if any errors

I've done that probably 100+ times already. I just did it again, and I've ONLY been seelcting the Add-ons. I'm still getting that error.

I also tried from 4 different machine (3 are on our company network and the 4th is one of my home computers. They all show 1277 for the file size on stand_alone.apm.

Just downloaded a couple of stand_alone script and the file size is correct at 1276.
Can check the MD5 hash for the file as it should be AF8DBDCC082D189513D48AC35B06FE8A

here is the reference from a stand_alone script

Item=Windows Stand Alone Parent Module
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\stand_alone.apm
DetectHash=AF8DBDCC082D189513D48AC35B06FE8A
DownloadFrom=http://www.autopatcher.com/releases/modules/stand_alone.apm
DownloadTo=autopatcher:\modules\stand_alone.apm
ExpectedSize=1276
ExpectedHash=AF8DBDCC082D189513D48AC35B06FE8A

As you can see the filesize and MD5hash match in both instances

For ms_security_en_us_20120520.script, the size & hash fail. If this is another script please specify and I'll test again.

... not knowing how many scripts have the 'stand-alone' apm in it, might I suggest the exact script failing be mentioned so a long journey of discovery isn't necessary :)

I just manually downloaded stand_alone.apm from http://www.autopatch...stand_alone.apm

The file size is 1277 bytes
MD5 is 09b3f09640488a2fe1089a6555210eec

Just downloaded a second time and got this...
File size is 1427 bytes
7D08D017269E60F0DC6297023606EAAD

*** edit ***

Here's the exact cut/paste from the Checksum tool I'm using....
File: stand_alone.apm
CRC-32: 45db021f
MD4: 9555d357f302d42eeed24f204319e464
MD5: 7d08d017269e60f0dc6297023606eaad
SHA-1: f169f570da83ba3bc95125139c20c2a0b68cead0

And a 4th download of stand_alone.apm gets me this for the MD5
09B3F09640488A2FE1089A6555210EEC
with a file size of 1277 bytes.

The script i copied the reference from was the ms_security_en_us_20120520.script.
The apm appears to be correct but I copied the apm from the server and have the same info displayed by your attachment.

Have done a file comparison and there is no difference and am at a loss to explain the differences

The stand_alone apm should be reference in any stand_alone script, and after doing a quick of the ms sercuity and adobe reader script both refer to the stand_alone apm I posted.

The same as above, and the same for me, I'll let you guys figure this one out :)

I think this should land in ViroMan's court and let him sort it out.....I'm not saying anyone is wrong in this matter but something is definitely astray with it......
I'm done

Just a quick note on the file compare there is a difference as comparing the two MD5 hashes got this error 25C0806E
Doubt if it helps anyone

Found these (changes) after downloading ms_security_en_us_20120520.script from scratch, maybe someone else can confirm. Anyway, these are the Size/Hash figures I'm getting...

Item=mseinstall_xp_vista_seven_x86
DownloadFrom= http://download.micr.../mseinstall.exe
Name=mseinstall.exe
Size=11088872
MD5=10D1E4290C145C313B7678D1F2214C28

Item=mseinstall_xp_vista_seven_x64
DownloadFrom= http://download.micr.../mseinstall.exe
Name=mseinstall.exe
Size=13529576
MD5=2900B7A2D367C37D4440421E732BBB32

and it does look like the apm info is in need of an update as well, this is what I get when downloading via APUP.

Name=stand_alone.apm
Size=1277
MD5=09B3F09640488A2FE1089A6555210EEC

I just now have seen your posts... I will investigate.

The file size on the server IS 1,277. It was one of the files that was changed a while ago. I must have missed a script that needed editing after changing it.

Def you are correct about the mseinstall.exe changes as well. Fixed

Can someone install these and find detection on them? I won't update the signature till the new detection is found so it will show unofficial till then.

As long as you continue to edit your log file we will continue to have to guess what script is giving you problems - please read these - http://www.autopatch...-apup-log-file/ & http://www.autopatch...es-please-read/

The MS Security Essentials script is mostly done, once someone reports the new detections for the updated files it should get signed and be good to go. I downloaded the latest script and everything seems OK, it is unsigned and the apm files have the old info for mseinstall x86/x64, when the new detections are determined the apm files will get edited and a new rti file created, rerun APUP and you should get the new files.

Now, it looks as if more scripts use the "stand_alone.apm", you obviously are downloading one of them but aren't properly providing a log file so we can see straight-away and make the fix - I did find a few, Adobe Air & Adobe Reader, there may be more. These scripts need an edit as well so the correct size is used for the "stand_alone.apm" otherwise conflicting scripts will flag, delete, and redownload which is what you got goin' on.

FINE, here's the ENTIRE log file.....

Spoiler

I'm on a deadline to get a solution in place for our shop to use for "offline" updating. If the issues I'm having with APUP aren't resolved next week, I'm going to abandon using APUP and move on to another product.

It's definitely the Adobe (Reader and AiR) packages where it's failing.
