Running IE10 Platform Preview in Win7 Ultimate 64bit w/SP1. When I use it to go to AutoPatcher.com and try to edit a previous message I am unable to move the cursor anywhere on the screen within the message - don't know if it is an IE10 issue or a glitch here. Have to reboot back to XP or Win7 32bit to edit.

I've always understood the Platform Preview release to be developer, beta tester test runs...

The Platform Preview (in my understanding) is not-for-primetime!

The expectation is that those who install this version are test driving (beta testing) new features, bugs are expected, as well using the standard reporting tools, Microsoft hopes the test drivers will report the problems.

Here's a quick overview of the process from The IEBlog on MSDN...

IE10 on Windows 7 available in November

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 10:00 AM

As we approach general availability of Windows 8, we want to provide an update on IE10 for Windows 7. We will release a preview of IE10 on Windows 7 in mid-November, with final availability to follow as we collect developer and customer feedback.

IE10 on Windows 7 has the same standards based platform for developers to target as IE10 on Windows 8. We built an entirely new browser with Windows 8, with more performance and developer capabilities. IE10 brings improved real-world site performance and additional standards support to Windows 7 that Web developers have been asking for. We look forward to getting your feedback on IE10 on Windows 7, and will provide another update when the preview is available.

I'm not sure of the exact order but generally something like this...
PP - Platform Preview and/or DP - Developer Preview
RP - Release Preview and/or CP - Consumer Preview
RTM - Release To Manufacturing and/or RC - Release Candidate
...eventually a Final version.

In short, unless you want to be a tester (get in while they accept feedback) I would go with at minimum a RTM or RC (which is considered a stable beta) to forego too many bugs.

I wouldn't add a version less than RTM or RC, better, the Final to AutoPatcher - JMO :)/>

I'm sure an experienced tester could improve my diagram but I believe this though simplified is accurate - I deliberatly left out the alpha, GA, ... phases and the other intermediary stages, which by the way, a release can go backward or forward during the process.
