Well he did give me a script for office. I will upload it and you can try it out.

Edit: Its up.

looks like it won't change that apm though. I will do some fiddling about.

DJ can you give me a dir listing of the your Visio dir? I will create a detection for Visio based off of the exe if there is one.

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=progfiles:\Microsoft Office\Visio11
FileName=Visio.exe
FileVersion=ANY

Something like that. Just having office installed doesn't mean you have Visio installed does it? So creating detections based on office being installed would be incorrect.

I believe the viewer that DesertJerry is talking about is this one Microsoft Visio 2013 Viewer allows anyone to view Visio drawings inside their Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser.

quote from MS "By using Microsoft Visio 2013 Viewer, Visio users can freely distribute Visio drawings (files with a .vsdx, .vsdm, .vsd, .vdx, .vdw, .vstx, .vstm, .vst, or .vtx extension) to team members, partners, customers, or others, even if the recipients do not have Visio installed on their computers. Internet Explorer also allows for printing, although this is limited to the portion of the drawing displayed."

Did some research on the subject and also found there were updates available for both 32bit and 64bit versions.. another point is that this update only works in Windows 7 and 8 and as such it would be appropriate for this to be included in Office Addons as well as the updates for it.... will see what can be done

Go back a read my posting #15 - there is no separate folder for \Visio when the viewer is installed in Home and Student 2010 - the info I posted there should help - I hope.

Also, I posted stuff in #17 and #18 that impacts what is being duscussed here. There is a reason, I think, why Viewers should not be listed in AutoPatcher - trying to match Office versions, Viewers, and Converters could be problematic and requiring further discussion.

I agree with you DesertJerry on not having these viewers listed in the addons... after looking over Visio Viewer 2013 I noticed the install path directs to Microsoft Office, and as such it would be quite a task to match each of the viewers to their respective Office counterparts.

A suggestion if I may, consider creating a separate script for these viewers, providing of course that others members with these installed can provide detection details and such for the script and apms to be built.
This would also depend on just how many people will make use of them as it would be great waste of time in the creation if nobody is going to make use of it....
One further note to add is that if a script was to be created then it would only contain the viewers, the converters could be added at some later date if there was a call to do so..

Something to throw around in a discussion I presume... your thoughts are welcomed and appreciated

Well have been doing some testing with the viewers available, installing them and checking with Microsoft Update for updates. My conclusion to creating a Viewers release would be a huge undertaking as it would require a great deal of time sifting through each Office release to check for the updates pertaining to each viewer, I therefore would not endeavor to take this on.

As a matter of interest :
1/. to download the viewers would require a total of 209Mb, then the updates about 155Mb.
2/. For any one interested a listing of the updates excluding those for Visio Viewer 2013

Spoiler

And the rest of the information contained below

So, as I am in agreement with the position of removing Office Viewers, the next step would be for the person in charge to just eliminate all references to them in the scripts and reduce overall download sizes for everyone. No Office addons/viewers/etc have been updated since Office 2003 so eliminating these items, probably, would not be missed by very many.

If anyone would like to see how much work is being expended in trying to keep various Office versions along with Viewers, Converters, etc updated for use with the Office Integrator I highly recommend: http://siginetsoftwa...fice-Integrator
