Problem at 2012-12-23 with the Download of...

Hey Guys,
Merry Christmas!

I have a problem with AutoPatcher 1.4.0.0 when I’m trying to download the “DirectX 9.0c (v9.29.1974) Addon Pack” & “.Net Framework Addon Pack (x86) English” updates for XP32 & SP3. Here are the log file & screenshots:

I’ve read about AutoPatcher here and I like the idea. So I downloaded version 1.4.0.0 from the forum and start it at two stages, more than ones and at different times with the same result.

I) I chose the next items, then pressed the “Next” button and everything passed without problems.:
  • "AutoPatcher Updater 1.4.0.0"
  • "AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.0.100"
  • "AutoPatcher Common Modules"
  • "AutoPatcher for Windows XP SP3 (x86) English"
II) Start over and added the next, and almost at the end I get the error (screenshot #3):
  • “DirectX 9.0c (v9.29.1974) Addon Pack”
  • “.Net Framework Addon Pack (x86) English”
I've repeated the stage II) many times with the same error. In the log file I can't see which exactly files are failed and why.

I'll be glad if this problem can be solved.

This is a temporary problem. We are changing scripts around atm and some problems were created. they will be worked out some time today.

Thank you for the fast answer, that was very important for me! I’ll try a few hours later and will not apply the downloaded updates until there is not a clean and error free download. Am I right?

You can apply the updates you have atm. It will not affect you. You may not be able to see DX or .NET though.

If you need those updates(DX and .NET) you can still manually install them. They downloaded properly its just they will not list in AutoPatcher correctly.

Thanks for this information, I was worried is that is safe. I suppose that when the things are fixed then I can run APUP again without the need to download all updates. Is it better to start from the begging at clean?

Now it works! The problem from the first post is gone and I am extremely happy.
This is my best present for the Christmas!

Later I'll try to star over just to repeat all the steps again and will report back.

That’s right, I am deeply grateful to all of you for the AutoPatcher as an application and as an idea! I can’t miss the support and its quality – an example of real, valuable, prompt and effective one! Most of the commercial support is just virtual and opposite of that what I’ve received here. For me AutoPatcher is priceless tool that makes me completely free from the interactive updates and some crappy ones. The opportunity for automation is that what I needed as a natural addition to the sysprep.

I tested the current release and everything works fine. I saw that there is one update that can’t be downloaded according to the log information. Actually the file was available in the local folder. I’ve downloaded it manually and after the comparison they are identical. Here are the pictures and the log file:

Just so you know... we didn't create autopatcher... we are stewards of it though. Antonis is the creator. You can see the list of original creators/helpers in Auopatcher by hitting about button. I am the latest to improve on the code.

I noticed by the second log KB907306 (webfolders) has reared it's ugly head again... haved researched on this one that it should be moved into components section..

You can click the option button and then click on remember selections. So that every time you run apup it will auto select the same things.

You can add the ones in black to a blacklist so they do not show, but I would not recommend that. Black entries mean your system is missing these updates. Quite a few of these are security updates which you should install. The others you could hide.

The idea is very simple – we have a master XP workstation with specifically applied updates that is the template for other workstations with the same duties. So the only option is to run AutoPatcher on the master workstation to make an update profile via manual selection of the all “blue” updates and to save them into an answer file. It’s not difficult and I’m doing it in that way.

It would be great if I can do the same at command prompt. At practice I have more than 30 master workstations with different updates for everyone. The case all updates to all workstations doesn't work in many reasons for me.
