No problem, just wanted to let you know that the option is being ignored in the 1.4.5 version. Get some rest .....

Click-Click... when you are using listfile are you giving it an HTTP or HTTPS? it will not work unless its HTTP since its not setup to be able to use HTTPS. I know dropbox(if you use it) gives you HTTPS links.

apup /log /LISTFILE:http://www.autopatcher.com/releases/releases2.list
Attached File  2013-02-19_024839.png   30.16K   7 downloads

Just running apup without any switches gives you a blank screen too. IMO you should show the
main list as the default. If the user wants something else, then he can go through the GUI or use
/Listfile. I would also get rid of the get list button on the main menu and get the list when the user
goes to the options and changes his list selection.

This TOPIC is now about
APUP 1.4.11 and AP 1.7.29

as usual... use the test list(releases2.list) if you want to try them out. They have the new sexy manifests built into them so they look better in vista and up. I think(if I did it right) they will ask for admin pass if you run them in a non admin account in win7 and vista.

Fixes:
The last AP I put out had the bad 1.1 DLL in it... this does not. If you used the last one I recommend updating to this.

Known bugs/problems:
Sorry Def_x, I forgot to fix that tiny bug with apup's script selector not highlighting the first item you click properly.

TODO:
Fix DLL registration so that it will remove that 1.1 DLL if it sees it.
Get apup to remember window size and column sizes like apup2 did.(I really miss that a lot)
(anything else I forget?)

What about the empty list every time you start APUP?

When I run Apup 1.4.11 I get two errors when it tries to run sweeper.

path not found in prjSweeper.Main at line 142.

Run-time error '5': Invalid produce call or argument.

Can you elaborate? Do you mean the moment you start apup or after hitting get list it stays empty?

Here - when I start APUP the list is empty - Get List solves the problem (I was assuming that's how it's supposed to work.)

That IS the intended way to use it. I guess I should make the empty list invisible and have some text saying "Click get list or click options to make adjustments first."

BTW... everyone like the new look with the manifest built in?

When APUP is started.

Why should I have to add an additional step to get the list. Is it that difficult to show the main list as the default?
This will be what the majority will want anyway.

What is wrong with the suggestion I made previously?

IMHO the empty screen invisible or not is a step backwards.

I suppose your right, most will want the same list they got last time. I could change it to auto download the previous list and if you hit option and change list url, to download new list. (Get List will change to Download Items)

Just noticed a new bug in the new AP
It won't tell you which script is bad(missing files/wrong sizes/wrong md5) in some cases. It will say unofficial because it knows something is wrong but when it comes time to tell you which is bad... it can't.

List of things done/noticed in the next version

Fixed:
  • Apup - First item checked doesn't get selected. It will now.
  • Apup - I accidentally reverted the code for script size showing... fixed.
  • AP - doesn't tell you which rti failed verification... fixed.
  • Sweeper - I nearly forgot about about Black Ghosts error. I looked into it and I might have fixed it.
Added/Changed:
  • Lots more error detection code for both.
  • Apup - Will now always download the last list you downloaded. No more clicking on get list. If you go into options and make a change to the url it will auto download the new list.
  • AP - Cleaned up the way some errors are reported.(removed showing full paths that could eat up space)
  • Apup - Add remember application size ability. The list and columns will auto size based on a percentage of the list. Name - 63% Language - 12% Date - 14% Size - 10%. For now the percentage is locked. If people want to be able have it save the size they want I am open to it. The information is stored in the ini file. If the numbers look a bit high... its because VB6 likes to use a display size type of twip <-- look it up. Anyways... VB6 also supports a few others like pixel, point, inch,mm and so on but, every time I switch to them it just keeps reverting back to twip when I save so, what ever.
Known Bugs on todo list:
none atm

Todo List:
anything else I forget?

Well I wanted to put out the new versions and some updated scripts today but, You guys will have to do with a minor change to a script already(extra script) out and new test java scripts which I will make official tomorrow probably.

So, I released the new AP and Apup on the test list... not a whole lot of testing since I was rushing myself to get it done before I go to work and you guys would have to wait another week.

Was running the newest autopatcher/apup on my virtual machine windows xp sp3 today and everything runs fine until I clicked finish then reboot, keep getting an error which previously wasn't experienced

reboot.exe
CRC error ! File contents has been modified. If you run a system debugger, clear all breakpoints before running this program.

Get this every time once doing updates and a reboot is required.

That seems absurd. I never changed that file. I will check to see if there are alternate versions of that file running around and I gave the wrong one(like with the dll problem we had).

Edit: so I poked around and I don't have any different versions. I will poke it with a few tools to see what comes out.

edit2: well I ran it and it did what it was supposed to do. Frankly I don't know why they are using an external app to do the reboot anyways when there is a windows api to call for that. I can probably switch to that. I will have to look it up and see how easy it is to call. (looks it up) Seems rather simple for a windows api. I will add the ability in the next AP.

My bad...forgot one major piece of information from my posting.

I was running autopatcher from a flash drive to install the updates.

Never had this problem before when installing from a flash drive.
