Hi Guys

I was wondering if it was possible to get the old tweak section files from somewhere. I used this section on every clean install of XP I need to do and would like to use it again. I could do it manually but would prefere not to.

Any help would be great

Thanks

@Effigee --- it is possible to obtain the tweaks section to use with Windows XP, it will however make your autopatcher Unofficial/Unsupported Version (you can still use it however) as the release will not be signed.
One thing..TweakUI can also can apply a lot of the tweaks that are available from the Tweaks section...

Will let other members expand on this subject most notably ViroMan..

I did this exact thing for a friend about 2 years ago, I also signed the 'Tweaks' to avoid the nag of unofficial. I can find it for you Efigee but only if you want it, it wont be like digging a ditch but I will have to scrub thru a few discs I have.

Again, I don't mind.

@_def_x_ -- let us know if you find your disc before proceeding any further action...would save a bit of time ..

If worse comes to worst and there are enough users wanting the entire old Tweaks section then may be possible to create a script for it and all goes well then have it signed and included on main..

So I put it to you peoples..those who are interested in having the original Tweaks created as release please post your interest here. It depends on the response if we go ahead with it or not.

Yeah, I found it and have been noodling with a script to download it from scratch. A few of my friends said they wouldn't mind having the tweaks as a separate download just in case.

If I could pick your brain about about Dropbox, if you get time check your PM, I don't want to derail this thread.

Have located and downloaded the tweaks archives and apms....begun building a script to allow for use in APUP to download them..... so it's an on going sideline project just when it appeared the tweaks were to become history..

Wiil continue work on it later today

lol same. I thought we could get rid of some things no one probably used. Ohh well, when you finish with the scripting and what not make sure to stuff them all into a zip and send the zip and the script to me and I will upload to server so that it doesn't get lost in a DB account.

I have created a release for the Original Windows Tweaks and have uploaded onto my dropbox for testing...if all goes well then will get it signed and moved to main list. It has been compiled from the original Tweaks section in Windows XP x86 release. The apms are more slender than previously, and 3 Security tweaks have been removed so there is no conflict in autopatcher.

Instructions for downloading the release:
Before you download this make a backup of your APUP and use this backup for testing the release.
You need to using APUP V1.4.2 or later to paste the url adress.
Open your APUP and click options, then copy and paste the link into the address bar .. link http://dl.dropbox.co...6/releases.list
click get list and select Original Windows Tweaks click next.. sit back and wait for download to complete ( a word of advice is to download a second time to eliminate errors)
You are ready to go

PS for you firefox users right click on the URL above and hit "copy link location". It will copy the url into memory. Then paste it into apup.

ViroMan has placed the tweaks release on the test list ie releases2. It has been signed in case you need to use sweeper to rid your autopatcher of rogue files.

So this can be found on http://www.autopatch.../releases2.list

PLEASE DOWNLOAD FROM RELEASE2 NOT FROM MY DB LINK...THANKS

I am still working out bugs and adding things in apup and AP so the latest version remains on the test list. The bugs that exist are purely cosmetic. The things I am adding are important but, will not be noticed by non script people.

If you want the latest version go HERE and follow the directions.
