Windows Update Agentno installer
Posted 03 February 2013 - 09:19 PM
From what I've read online latest Windows Update Agent is: 7.6.7600.256 yet AutoPatcher wants to install an older version. Also read online that there is no standalone installer for the later version; update is accomplished when user goes to Microsoft Update. Sounds like someone is going in circles - Google search adds to circles.
Microsoft Windows - Common Files
check mark in box for Windows Update Agent v7.6.7600.243 (x64) - problem is I have wuapi.dll for Update Agent 7.6.7600.256 installed in the \System 32 folder - date: 02 June 12 and wuapi.dll 7.5.7601.17514 for Update Agent in the \SysWoW64 folder - date: 20 Nov 10; obviously a glitch somewhere.

Microsoft Windows - Common files > Windows Update Agent v7.6.7600.243 (x86) is blue - checked APM
Checked actual files installed:
So, Update Agent is shown blue because the latest files are installed even though the old version of the Windows Update Agent is listed. (I know it's because of the => being used - but why didn't this work in the 64bit version?)
I went back and re-checked the actual files installed in \System32 (WIN7 U 64 sp1)
Actual files installed:
So, would using the above be more accurate than looking for what's in the \SysWOW64 folder?

Secondly it seems very odd that your SysWOW64 directory has a dll with a different version number to the one in the system32...don't have an answer to that !!
If Microsoft continue to use a silent update for the Windows Update Agent then this item could/should be removed from the Common release...time will tell
