Started AutoPatcher v5.7.31 > Application error: Overflow in StrToInt at line 112 > OK > repeats error > OK > continues

Visual Studio Tools for Office runtimes: 2005, 2008, 2010 - installed all three.

Win7 Ultimate 64bit w/SP1 shows 2005 and 2010 in blue; 2008 not shown in black.

Win7 Ultimate 32bit w/SP1 shows 2005 in blue, 2008 and 2010 not shown in black.

I did notice that 2005 and 2008 were listed under Microsoft Office Addons and 2010 under Windows Addons - all should be
under Office Addons.

XP Pro x64 w/SP2 shows 2005 and 2010 in blue, 2008 not shown in black.

XP Pro w/SP3 shows 2005 and 2010 in blue, 2008 not shown in black.

I have opened the various APM files to try to determine differences/discrepancies - so far no luck.

Next day - edited \OfficeAddons\vsto08te_enu.apm - issue resolved in Win7 Ultimate 64bit

Booted into Win7 Ultimate 32bit > 2005 and 2008 both show as blue; 2010 not shown in black. Must conclude above edits to vsto08te_enu.apm fixed one problem.

Edited \modules\Addons\vstor_redist_x86.apm as follows:

Old
[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=XP_X86,2K3_X86,VISTA_X86,SEVEN_86 --->
SystemLanguage=ANY

New
[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=XP_X86,2K3_X86,VISTA_X86,SEVEN_X86 <---

Now all three: 2005, 2008, and 2010 are blue.

Booted into XP Pro x64 > Started AutoPatcher > Same Overflow errors as above > all VSTOR items now shown in blue - above fixes good.

Booted into XP Pro > Started AutoPatcher > Same Overflow errors as above > all VSTOR items now shown in blue - above fixes good.

Suggestion - edit the various APMs as follows:
[General]
Title=Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools For Office Runtime Redistributable

[General]
Title=Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Tools For Office Runtime Redistributable

[General]
Title=Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools For Office Runtime Redistributable

Move the 2010 APMs to the \OfficeAdddons folder - this is where they belong - and edit the required APMs as necessary to reflect this change.

Major issue - If none of the VSTORs are installed and AutoPatcher is started it does not indicate, with a black listing, that the VSTORs are not installed so that the user can check the appropriate box and install them. It seems to me to be a bit odd that no indication shows up in AutoPatcher till after they are installed by the user as part of a requirement by another program.

Can you post the log when that happens. It "should" be in the log.

I will attach the one log file I found - after I started in XP Pro. If you want a copy from one of the other operating systems please ask here.
Unable to attach log file - get error message saying I don't have permission to attach that kind of file. WTF? So, here's a copy:

Screen shot, if I could figure out how to do it, would require me to uninstall all VSTORs - not really wanting to do that. What I 'see' is what I posted to start this thread . Later, deleted previous log file and:
Win7 Ultimate > AutoPatcher > still get error message mentioned above.
Quick review of AutoPatcher.log file:
System Components:
Internet Explorer: 10.0.9200.16521
Windows Media Player: 12.0.7601.17514
.NET Framework: 2.0.50727.5420|2.0SP2|3.0.30729.5420.5420|3.0SP2|3.5|3.5SP1|4|4SP0|4.0|4.0SP0
Windows Installer: 5.0.7601.17514
DirectX: 4.09.00.0904
MSN/Live Messenger:
I have .NET Framework 4.5.50709 installed - why is it not reflected in the above? As far as I know all previous .NET Framework version are part of Win7 and do not show as installed in Programs and Features or by AIDA 64 Extreme 2.80.2341 so is the listing here really necessary? If "Turn Windows features on or off" is selected there is an option for .NET framework 3.5.1 - only - no others.

Office Components:
** NONE **
Lie - I have Office 2010 Pro w/SP1 and all updates installed - Programs and Features shows v14.0.6029.1000

I forgot about .NET 4.5 not showing in some cases. Will add to the todo list. All the old .NET's show because your windows registry says they are installed. The way the code currently detects .NET is by enumerating a whole section of the registry. Its a rather simple and fast bit of code. I think (im not sure) we still offer .net 2.0 updates so we would still need to display them. If we no longer do then I could have it omit anything below 3.0 to shorten the list.

At this point adding/changing code to make things look more pretty is superfluous, when what is needed is useful features and bug stomping. I am going to feature lock the code soon(no more extra things just bug fixes) and put the project on hold while I work on AP2.

Office components show as blank because it doesn't know how to detect Office 2010. I will probably get with you on this coming Saturday, Sunday, Or Monday if you have time and ask you a few question about what you see in your registry and on your HD to aid in creating some detections for it.

If you only have 4.0 installed, AP will show 4|4SP0|. If you have 4.5 installed, it will show 4|4SP0|4.0|4.0SP0. The CLR version is still 4.0.30319. dotNET 4.5 is an in-place upgrade of 4.0 so you will only have Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319.

I started AIDA64 and ran a report of installed programs, then edited out the non Office items (hopefully I was able save everything - the list was extensive) and it is attached (hope this helps your efforts - let me know if there is anything else:

Ohh thats why. I never figured it out but, I never tried too hard to look into it.

I did have to modify AP code to account for 4SP0 a few versions back though. It would crash AP when it came across that and was trying to do a version compare since its not by itself or it doesn't contain a decimal.

23 March 2013
Booted #2 system to Win7 Pro 64bit w/SP1
Ran APUP and Updated APUP and AutoPatcher to 1.4.14 and 5.7.31 respectively.
Started AutoPatcher:
Microsoft Office Addons list Visual Studio 2005 in black.
Microsoft Office Addons did not list Visual Studio 2008 at all.
Windows Addons listed Visual Studio 2010 in blue.
As a test I uninstalled Visual Studio 2010 and restarted Autopatcher - VS 2010 was now shown in black. Then I copied the three previously mentioned Visual Studio APMs I had edited to their respective locations and restarted AutoPatcher; now all three VS items were listed in black.
I then proceeded to install all three Visual Studio items and restarted AutoPatcher - got Application error message: Overflow in StrToInt at line 112 > Ok > message repeated > OK > continued > now all three Visual Studio Runtimes shown in blue.

Started #2 system in XP Pro > AutoPatcher > all Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime were listed as black items.
Installed all three Visual Studio programs > AutoPatcher > Application Error - Overflow in StrToInt at line 112 > OK > Error repeats > Ok > AutoPatcher continues. All Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime now shown in blue - good.
So, it seems that this error is caused by the installation of the Visual Studio Tools Runtimes - I'm assuming it would help in determining the actual problem.

Further checking - I think the error is in autopatcher_off_addon_enu.script at line 112
Line 111 = DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msagent2.apm
Line 112 = DetectHash=D6CCFB22D264813623ECD852E41EDDA5
There was consensus a while back to remove Microsoft Agent from the listings/options because it was a built in Windows program and should not be shown under Office. I believe this is the cause of the error - I did not want to edit it out here for fear of causing other problems - whoever is in charge of the scripts can verify make the necessary edit.

Post #4 above mentions some changes made to the off_addon script, the updated script is on the test (releases2) list - http://www.autopatch...30115_v2.script

I noticed this:
#20130115
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msagent2.apm
PreAction.FolderDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2

This should kill Genie, Merlin, Peedy, Robby, ... etc for good. Downloading the script on the main list will, of course, invite them to live on your system once again... not sure if this will address the other issues.

Win7 Ultimate 64bit w/SP1 - started APUP 1.4.14 with releases2.list option and selected Office Addon Pack (English) 15 Jan 2013 and after download was complete started AutoPatcher:
Still got the error message about Line 112 as mentioned above.
Microsoft Office Addons > Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition Runtime had been changed back to black - why? The other two tools still shown in blue. Something bad happened.
OPened the -off_addon_enu.script and found:

So, it seems that the removal of MSAgent and the characters was not done.

Edit is not working for me!
Then, in order to get Visual Tools 2005 back to blue in a 64bit system I had to edit the APM and add the following:
[DetectionRegistry]
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{388E4B09-3E71-4649-8921-F44A3A2954A7}
KeyName=DisplayVersion
KeyValue=8.0.60891.0
[DetectionFile]
FilePath=commonfiles(x86):\Microsoft Shared\VSTO\8.0
FileName=AddinLoader.dll
FileVersion=8.0.50727.891
FileMD5=
FileDate=ANY
which, I believe is information I had posted earleir.

OPened the -off_addon_enu.script and found:

Item=Agent 2.0 Characters and Utilities
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\genie_enu.apm
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\merlin_enu.apm
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\peedy_enu.apm
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\robby_enu.apm
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\genie_enu.apm_files\Genie.exe
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\merlin_enu.apm_files\Merlin.exe
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\peedy_enu.apm_files\Peedy.exe
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\robby_enu.apm_files\Robby.exe

So, it seems that the removal of MSAgent and the characters was not done.

I loaded the script from post #14 in a new tab, reloaded again to make sure I had the latest - autopatcher_off_addon_enu_20130115_v2.script

I then did a script search for - DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2 - it came up empty, nothing to download. I think you're getting another script.

When I did a search for - autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2 - I get deletions only:

#20130115
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msagent2.apm
PreAction.FolderDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2
#--08.24.08-- Engine Removed from MS
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\ttsenua_enu.apm
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\sapiruntime_enu.apm
PreAction.FolderDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\ttsenua_enu.apm_files
PreAction.FolderDelete=autopatcher:\modules\OfficeAddons\__msgent2\sapiruntime_enu.apm_files

The only thing I don't understand is what is meant in this comment here:
# 2013-01-15: Removed MS Agent 2 and utilities moved them to Windows AddOns (Whatacrock)

Was Agent removed or only moved to another script? Agent & utilities, only the utilities? I'm not sure what the Windows AddOns script is either.

Windows AddOns is the Extras Script. Its what is referred to in the code. If we want to add things into the addons dir(modules\AddOns) we have to click a check box when signing to make sure things get sorted properly(from what I know, I believe its an old part of the AP code that may not be used but, still in). WAC and I had a bunch of conversations about agent and the utilities. We were going to kill off the agents since they are no longer supported by MS. We kept going back and forth on what to do with it, from simply moving it to out right removing it. I finally got some time off so I will try to get as much done tomorrow through monday as I can.

_def_x,
Just checked - again - my download last night did not include the _v2 script - and even if I copied the link you posted I have no idea how I would use it.
Will just have to wait on ViroMan to get a handle on things.

As I mentioned in post #14, the fixed script is on the release2.list. In a newer APUP (I used 1.4.14), change the URL to - http://www.autopatch.../releases2.list - click 'OK'. The list should load. There's about 13 scripts and 1 Office Addon. These scripts are to test so VM needs your input, once the changes are good to go then it will be moved to the main list.

I don't see any mention of Agent in my log. I only started the download to create a log file, I'm on dialup so I can't test all 90+MBs very quickly.

Btw, it was helpful when the log showed the deletions, nice to see it, apparently not anymore, the command was changed.
