Just wanted to let everybody know before it's asked. With Vista SP1 finally coming out today, I'll get to work on AP for Vista. It's going to be quite small for now but I'm sure in time it will grow. ;)

erik, i'm not sure if is an good idea remove each vista rtm update because sp1. the vista release is multilanguage, but sp1, don't. so far, we have only 5 languages that have sp1: english, french, german, japanese and spanish. all other languages are out and will take at least 1 month to have sp1 to all languages and, according to ms, you can't apply english sp1 in each other language. by other hand, we may have those that run one of this 5 languages and will not need a lot of updates due sp1. so, may be an nice idea leave an script for vista rtm for 1, maybe 2 months, to give time to all languages have sp1 ready and do a clean version for vista script sp1

for xp sp3, we will have the same issue

by the way: vista sp1 redist is here

You make a great point about Vista. I won't add any script to delete older updates but I'm not going to have the time to add any additional SP0 updates.

We shouldn't have any issues with XP since all updates are language specific.

In the article at http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista...3.mspx?mfr=true scoll down slightly to the section headed "Service Pack 1 Size" and you will see a reference to a 36-language version of SP1. I can't find it anywhere, but perhaps Erik will have better luck that I do.

Cyrus, if you find it, please let me know. i really need something like that. if far more easy have just 1 update to all languages than a lot just 100mb more thin.

@eric, yes and no. for xp, each release will have his own time to remove sp2 updates, due the translation time.

off: i really don't like of this new reading style...

I don't think the all-language version is out yet. There are links for it on msdn but they go nowhere. Heard it will be out mid-April.

It should be ~450MB, which is not something I would want in AP but it's not a huge problem on my 10Mbit connection.

anything can be downloaded and size doesn't matter. even an slow ic doesn't matter. the only one thing that some people need more than others is a little bit of patience... for vista sp1, i have no choice. i live too close from some spanish border and there's a couple of freeshops in there. so, is pretty common in here found vista in english, spanish and in my own language. once, i've found an version in french too. so, no choice. sit and wait...

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 redist x86 (KB936330) - all languages:
X86
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 redist x64 (KB936330) - all languages: X64

A quick question, APUP has worked fine and the autopatcher has also done well. But im asking about SP1 as announcements have stated its working with the APUP, I have seen no mention of SP1 on the updater or the patcher, but does this just mean that SP1 has been downloaded and installed but is mingled within the various KB updates or should it be more obvious than that?

Thanks

Basically it means that APUP is compatible with SP1 which it will only downloads SP1 compatible updates.

Ah of course, sorry think i got my wires crossed reading the discussions.
Is Autopatcher going to be able to install SP1 at any point?

Can't find any reference in forums to ap installing sp1 for vista - has it got that capability yet? Have tried at least 3 times on each of my 2 (infernal?) machines to install the SP1 automatically downloaded by MS Update - without success. In all cases vista rolled back the update to vista's satisfaction - but not mine as twice on my desktop (Vista Home Premium) it needed a complete restore from backup (I use Genie Backup Manager).

On a more general note after I used APUP I went to MS Update (silly me!!!!) and got a major error lit up in red telling me I had never updated vista and MS Update was no longer able to do so - restore from backup #2. If I try ap again will I have to stop automatic MS Update and never go there again? It really wouldn't hurt my feelings if that were true!
