Hi Erik, Security Update for Office 2003 (KB945185) is reported as missing by WU. I can see that it has been downloaded into the Office2003 folder but it doesn't show on AP.

There are two apm files KB945185_enu.apm and KB945185_view_enu.apm
Is the second one outdated? Should I delete it?

Both should be alright to have since this update is for both Office and Office readers/viewers - Word Viewer, Excel Viewer etc

Probably a detection that needs to be tweaked. What Office 2003 suite are you running on your system? Professional with Infopath, Office basic, etc? **If you go to your Add or Remove Programs, it will tell you **

Personally I don't like this update. This updates Vbe6.dll to version 6.5.10.24 and most of the time it's already at this version. Problem is that Microsoft Update thinks you still need to download this update. Your GUID is 11 which has been included in the module.

Run autopatcher.exe with a /log and look for any modules interfering with this module. Also you can try deleting all the modules in the Office2003 directory just in case. This module has been out for a while now. Has it always been missing on your rig?

This begs my questions:

1. How often do you fine folks update AutoPatcher?
2. Do you purposely delay incorporation of newly released Microsoft patches for certain period of time (e.g. in order to review potential SNAFU's, etc.)?

Thanks for the very useful (and now that I've been using it for a short time ... indispensable) tool. Also, thanks in advance for the answers to my questions.

> 1. How often do you fine folks update AutoPatcher?
that can be done at once, if someone do that. but in order to do this, the release mantainer need have the software that he intent to update, in order to allow him test the detections for the update. but i regret to inform that Erik (that was keeping a lot of releases alive) is taking long vacations. in deed, he was overloaded since long time ago and we will miss him a lot. so, currently there's no one taking care of office releases, but we are opened to that. so, if someone wanna join us and is willing to work for free, please let us know. we in deed are in lack of people. if someone is willing this, we may help you to learn about how it works. i regret inform that i don't own any version of msoffice, so, if any update needs that an office be validated, i can't do that.

> 2 - Do you purposely delay incorporation of newly released
no. every single update is added according to the release mantainer free time, just that. but since erik has quit, no one is taking care of this release right now

maxsisac

Thank you for the offer of help.
The guide is being rewritten at present. The new version should be available at the beginning of October.

Please send a PM to me with your current email address and details of the version (or versions) of Microsoft Office that you have and would be able to help with.

@maxsisac, currently, GeekYouRight is giving a try on it (for 2k7). so, let's see what happends next. about the translation guide, the current one is kinda obsolete. it was designed to the old way, were we was able to redist the updates needed by ourselves. i've started to update it yesterday and i really hope that in 1 week it will be finished. so, i hope that then the understanding process of create an module and the autopatcher will become more easy to understand, making easy to all people that wish help in some way. also, this task doesn't need to be for just one person. it's always better if this is an 4 hands job. just also an sample, James was silently helping Erik on his scripts in some way. also, i did the same with Renato, when he was doing the AutoPatcher for Brazil.

Hi guys..
I am new to this stuff, so bear with me if I sound completely ignorant.
I am trying to update my 2003 outlook professional so I can get the 2005 "Contact Manager" update. Here is the program I need.
I can not bypass the wga tool for whatever reason, and I looked all over the forum and see nothing about Office Professional. I don't need any of the other updates and stuff; just a way to bypass validation tool. Please help! Thanks!

Geez.. I am not a criminal or hacker or anything! I just need to add contact manager to my outlook pro. It's a "free add on", but it keeps telling me that my windows is not genuine. This laptop was given to me by my company and no one in corp seems to know which tech programmed it. I figure whoever did used the same windows for all our laptops. Is that illegal???

You came at me harsh... I am not a computer tech; thats why I came to you. If you wanted to learn about Lymphoma (my line of work) I wouldn't be so rude! <_<

> It's a "free add on"
any windows addon is free only to those that have an genuine copy. for all the other ones it's just another item to the list of pirated software. and, also you said, your system say that is non genuine

> I figure whoever did used the same windows for all our laptops. Is that illegal???
yes, it is, unless your company buy an corporative license and, in this case, your should not receive any warn about "non genuine". please, don't say that is hard to do, because i've already had to re-install about 40 machines in a single week due that same "i'm lazy to install it one by one" that someone did

> I wouldn't be so rude
the "don't ask about bypass wga" is at our agreement and anyone should read it before register. also you can read in any part of it, we don't endorse piracy, that makes any question about bypass wga subject to delete/warn/ban. are you aware that if we say "do this, do that and voilá, your system is now genuine" we can be sued my ms, isn't? so, knowing that, what you suppose that we should do with such questions? "we don't care about your non genuine issue, pal. please, take here. this an download link for the tool that you asked for?"

by the way: anyone should know that the "we don't endorse piracy" is our golden rule.

Just a heads-up to everybody. Office will be updated this month. Vista is my first priority which over 40 updates/modules need to be be created for the x86 and x64 versions. Afterwards, Office is next on my to-do list.
