Wanted to give eveybody a heads up - I'm going to omit an update for Vista Going to include this one - Just found out that Windows Update is prompting to install this one. Personally I don't believe this should be offered on Windows Update but I guess that's MS for ya =)

KB955020 - Update for Windows Vista
Description - The words "Friendster," "Klum," "Nazr," "Obama," and "Racicot" are not recognized when you check the spelling in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008

Size
  • X86 - 56.4MB
  • X64 - 63.1MB
Just to update four words in the ENU dictionary. Ouch!

"Obama," ? why not Hilary then?
and what about the words (or abbreviations): "WTF" , "Osama" , "Sadam" ?
if not sent to guantanamo, i should have to download about 1 gb for these (3 words in the first , it just adds up)?

anyway, seriosuly now
what about the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS08-037 for dns spoofing
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS08-037.mspx

I've seen some reports that the mess with zonealarm has settled down so it would be nice to add the fix in autopatcher
fix for dns client for 2000, xp sp2 and sp3, xp x64, and server 2003 (x86 and x64) DNS Client (951748)
fix for dns server for 2000, server 2003 (x86 and x64) and server 2008 (x86 and x64) DNS Server (951746)

(not applicable to vista, and mentioning about xp and server 2003 here seems a bit inappropriate, but I wanted to avoid doubleposting)
I'm on server 2008 here and it would be nice if the patch was included in autopatcher

what I'm really interested in is, though, if it is possible for autopatcher to detect on server 2008 if the dns server role is installed
and only then to install the update, otherwise it should just skip it
don't know the impact of installing the update on server without dns server but I wouldn't want to risk it
is such thing possible in autopatcher?

and what about Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution (950582)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS08-038.mspx
shows up in ms update but is not included in autopatcher

thanx in advance guys, you rock
(not to mention you contribute to the improvement of our spelling)

I'll have these up in the next couple of days. Aside from these three, there are another three that were released that Microsoft Update doesn't offer. Currently I'm finishing up the Office 2002 release.

As for KB940510, I've been meaning to add this but since it's not offered on Microsoft Download, I've been pushing it aside. I'll grab the download from MU and have this posted too.

The new Vista non-critical / optional updates added today. For now, KB940510 isn't installed. If anybody knows the command line that MU uses to install wgaer_m.exe, KB940510, let me know.

Hi. Just downloaded Autopatcher.
KB905866 needs to be updated. It is the junkfilter, and it points to the old one v25. which is deleted now. New one is v26.
Good work!!

Microsoft have released a critical patch for IE7 (KB960714) on the 17/12/08. Will this patch be available to download using Autopatcher software?
