I've just downloaded the new apup to an empty folder, unzipped it & ran it.

Now when I run Autopatcher I get the following error

I have downloaded the latest version of ROCHTX32.OCX but it made no difference.

I then ran the command to register ROCHTX32.OCX
regsvr32 \windows\system32\RICHTX32.OCX
But it gave me the following response



Anyone know what I need to do to get Autopatcher to run?

Try running the VB6 file in \win9xnt

I don't understand what you are suggesting I should do.

What VB6 file?

I'm using XP Pro, are you suggesting I should run Autopatcher in Win98 compatibility mode? because I tried that too but with the same result.

No. There should be a folder called win9xnt in your AutoPatcher directory, containing a file called vbrun60sp6.exe. This should ensure you have the correct VB runtimes installed.

No, there is no such folder?

I downed the new apup & ran that & it added a lot of folders including the Autopatcher.exe but no win9xnt fo;der.

Ok Erik, it has let me download the file now.

When I run it it looks for a location to extract files to, once extracted I end up with one executeable file named vbrun60sp6.exe (Which is only 0.98MB in size)

When I run that it appears to do something but it makes no difference to my problem.

Did you unregister the OCX first before re-registering it?

Whenever I try to Unregister or Register the file "richtx32.ocx" I keep getting the same error I posted in my original post (See Pic above)

It just says "richtx32.ocx is not an executable file and no registration helper is registered for this file type.

I hate to say it but it looks like something is going on with your setup on your computer when it comes to VB. Since I'm not a programmer myself, I'm not sure how to troubleshoot your issue further. In the land of IT, this is where we "reimage" the computer. Reimage = reinstall Windows.

Well Erik,

I build & repair computers for a living & am no stranger to the reinstall solution

I also have a hell of a lot going on on this particular system and this is the only program I'm having an issue with so I don't think it justifies a wipe.

I guess I can live with the conventional update method.

Sounds good. Might want to give it another try if/when you install XP SP3 when it comes out
