That is true however if you read my post I let AP install IE7. I didn't use the MS IE7 installer. Besides even WU/MU didn't show IE7 as an option. On an SP2 installation after IE 7 is installed using AP and rebooted then a bunch of other IE7 updates show up on the next run of AP. Not so with a slipstreamed SP3 install. That was my point. Not knowing whether it was fully updated or not.

I have installed it at least 20 times using APUP (I have a computer repair shop). The install routine is the same. If you are connected to the internet, it downloads it's updates during the install.

SP3 has just been officially released via windows update. How does autopatcher plan on handling this?

The trimmed down SP3 pack should be ready tomorrow. Since SP2 shares some modules with other releases, some work in the other modules need to be addressed first.

Well I need to go no further in my search. I have SP3 and when I updated alot of changes occurred to my system. First of which now I have to login to my system every time it starts up. ( I DON'T want that!!!!!!!!) Secondly my shutdown menu changed from buttons to a drop down menu ( I DON"T want that either). Thirdly I can no longer go to a site that allows live audio feeds of emergency radio transmissions, By this I mean that windows media player will not start up but I am not 100% sure this is an AutoPatcher issue, as I substituted Quicktime as the app to open this type of file and the same thing occurs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

i have sp3 already in my system and i don't need login or something. but you may fix this with tweakUI, autologon. but don't forget to open the password box or it may not be saved. other option is look if you have other users in your system and remove/disable those.

do you had any hacked version of utxtheme.dll? if you had that, this may happend. in this case, you just need choose another theme and all shall be ok again

pishing filter, maybe? are you trying that with msie 7?

Thank you for your response. Your suggestion for the first fix worked fine.
On the second issue stated, I belive I didnt make myself clear. Everything was fine until I ran AutoPatcher, thats when the above mentioned changes occured. I tried to do as you suggested and I still get the dropdown menu. I will try again. The third issue may just be coincidental to the running of AutoPatcher as I cant connect to the link either in IE7 or Firefox. So I am begining to belive that it is not an AutoPatcher issue. As I was writing this I discovered the answer to the third issue. The site server IP address changed and now I can get the site. So on the third issue Nevermind

EXTruckie, the second issue may happend due an update that updates the utxtheme.dll. so, everybody that had that hacked version of this dll and choose to install that kb have this issue. the only one fix that i know to that is choose an standard theme. but there's also an security tweak that may have something to do with that too. do you had installed some sort of tweak?

I did not install a Tweak that I know of. I tried to change the theme and the shutdown is still a dropdown box. I must add that I have the beta sp3 not the funal version. I was checking the net last night after receiving your last post and found that there is a replacement utxtheme.dll but I need to get the new release of sp3 to install it. I will try that first, and let you know how I make out.

The install of the final ver of sp3 did not occur. The build number did not change. So I tried to install the newest ver of utxtheme to no avail. I did a windows repair with the same result. The only thing else I think to do is a clean install of windows after a full eraseure of the drive. I was hoping to not have to do that, or I could just live with it.

EXTruckie, why? is just choose another windows theme. i don't have any path into my utxtheme.dll and i have all updates installed (i've changed my hd yesterday, so i still don't have all of my softs yet to show you all what is installed, but i grant you: all critical, noncritical, a lot of components, etc, sp3 and this sort of thing is installed) and take a look at my shutdown screen:

of course, that screen is in my own language, but you got the idea

the theme that i'm running is windows classic, but it works with other themes too. by the way: goto my computer, right click it, properties, advanced, speed (i'm not kite sure of this translation, but it's the first option), settings and, in visual effects, be sure that "let windows choose" is selected or take a list of that screen. somethings in that may remove themes too

edit: i forgot the obvious: take a look in your networking, looking something like netware or some sort of other network client in there. also, in control panel, administrative tools (i'm not kite sure of this translation), services, look for themes to see if it's disabled, not running or is in automatic. those things also can do this issue that you have

I did try that Ive tried all the themes and nothing changed. I even went as far as to install xp again in a different folder and I did get the proper shutdown screen but I did not have any sounds at startup and shutdown even though both are on in the sound theme section of the control panel. I checked administrative tools and themes are on. I am also not afraid to use regedit either. about the only thing I didnt try is a system restore to a point prior to running autopatcher.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated

After I wrote the above post I started poking around the control panel and found in Users that my themes were set to classic. I changed it to the welcome menu and everything came back to what it was before I ran AutoPatcher. The only thing still missing are the sounds at startup and shutdown, but who needs those anyway??

the sounds you may get back by going to control panel, "sounds and audio devices" (is the speaker icon). then, check sounds and select "windows default" or make your own selection
