hi all,
Quick question as I might be doing something wrong.
I am opening apup.exe and downloaded any updates needed (upgrade to new version and a Vista engine) but everytime it downloads, i click the finish button but the items are still ticked.
when I open autopatcher.exe there are things needed to be downloaded, i select the ones i want and click next it downloadeds them - i click finish and the PC restarts, but the items that should have been applied are not blue and are waiting to be downloaded again.
am I doing something wrong??? Why are the downloads not actually working??
cheers all

Hello Kransky.
Basically are you saying that after you run AutoPatcher.exe and install everything that you need to install, they don't show in blue after you reboot and run it again? How many/what updates are showing as not installed?

I have to admit I had that same problem once.
I ticked a bunch of updates, everything was installed ap said, I reboot, I check autopatcher.exe for some optional updates and I noticed then that some updates weren't installed.
For some reason, it suddenly succesfully installed all the previously failed updates after the third try. Never found out why.
Never had that problem anymore and this happened 2 months ago

Thanks for the screenshot. You technically have an updated system which those updates that aren't installed were superseded by other updates. Later one I'll add code to have them deleted.

I noticed that you have the Group Policy Preference KB943729 not installed. Have you attempted to install this one by chance or is it not being detected as installed?

Go ahead and use APUP to download the vista pack.
Let me know what's still being not detected.

hi all,
sorry for the delay, been away on holidays (yes it sucks to be back, lol)
I have tried again, even downloads with APUP dont work, they are still listed in APUP.
After downloading the engine, update and vista pack and running autopatcher again, all the updates I downloaded, installed and rebooted the pc for are still there.
Any ideas why nothing is updating in the program?? what am i doing wrong.
thanks

Next question kransky - Your screenshot only shows the critical updates as trying to be installed. Are you also trying to install the Recommended updates too?
Also, I want you to run autopatcher.exe with a /log commend --> autopatcher.exe /log
Afterwards go to your Windows directory and look for autopatcher.log. Please post this log for us to look at.

hey, here's the content of the log that is all that is in there, looks pretty empty but might mean something to you.
I have checked the log;
just after running the command
before restarting the machine (autopatchers ask to reboot)
and once the pc has rebooted.

I found the issue kransky. It's going to be awhile before I can update the scripts though. Tomorrow, go ahead and use APUP to update the Vista pack and then try again. Let me know the results

Actually.. Thank You!
I personally am still looking for a Vista X64 disk so that I can use the trial to test. Let me know in the future if anything comes up.

Just download a copy but dont crack it.
Vista gives you a 30 day trial then you have to register.
I accidentally forgot to do mine and then it prompted me like 20 days later.
Might give u a bit of time.
cheers
