April 15 was the last time APUP would fetch the latest 2K script and proceed to download needed files.

I have updated the list below at least 4 times since April 15 and 2K issue remains as of 05-02-08.

I usually check first, the boxes for the latest "engine" and "updater", once done, when I get a "finish"
tab, I close APUP and I know I'm recent here....

then...I run APUP again, and...

because I'm on dialup I only check 1 box from here on out. Usually go down the list of needed items.

Problem.....

Windows 2K seems to stall with no error or anything "after fetching" the 2K script phase finishes.
It shows 100% fetched but the script doesnt begin to analyse the folders, no hard drive activity,
no downloading, no nothing. It sat at this stage for atleast 30 minutes before I checked my PC
and noticed APUP was sleeping, off-duty, or AWOL - hell, I don't know.

I don't get a "next" or "finish" tab, "next" is grayed out, and only the "exit" tab is active.

I can update as usual without a hitch the following...

...AP Updater_AP Engine_XP 32-bit English_DirectX Addon
...DotNet Addon_Extras Addon_Office Addon_Office 2003

just not Windows 2K. This is the first issue I have had with APUP!

Any ideas? -> TIA -> Mike

Things look a little strange regarding (KB896422_2K_enu) but first Ill give you what
you asked for - then Ill try to explain...

The 2k log is very brief and only 1k in size --->>> Only 9 lines

AutoPatcher Updater starting.
List file HTTP location: http://www.autopatch...m/releases.list
Download queue status: 1 files waiting.
releases.list: Download complete.
Download queue status: 0 files waiting.
Download queue status: 1 files waiting.
autopatcher_2k_enu.script: Download complete.
Download queue status: 0 files waiting.
Executing shell command: del /F /Q "G:\APUP\modules\NonCritical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm"

OK...

Whats screwy is I have multiple instances of the same "Folder" and "File" in both the
"Critical" and "NonCritical" modules section. Yet the script asks to move the file from
"NonCritical" to "Critical" with this first line....

---Begin Deletes
#--04.12.08-- Module Move
PreAction=del /F /Q "autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm"
PreAction=MOVE /Y "autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files" "autopatcher:\modules\Critical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files"

But...
Asks to download to both the "Critical" section....

---#Module Downloads
-------Item=AutoPatcher Critical 2K Modules
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\Critical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm

As well as...

---#Non-Critical Downloads
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files\Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.exe
DownloadTo=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files\Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.exe

Which has left me with the following folders/files...Sorry for the confusion I'm sure will follow!

in the "Critical" main directory I have...
-->1 "apm" file ----------> KB896422_2K_enu.apm
-->1 "sub-directory" ----> KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files

----->In the sub-directory is
-------------1 "exe"------------------Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.EXE
-------------1 "sub-directory" ----> KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files
---------------------with 1 "exe" in it ---------> Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.EXE

Also...

in the "NonCritical" directory....
--> No "apm" file----------> KB896422_2K_enu.apm
-->1 "sub-directory" ----> KB896422_2K_enu.apm_files
---------------------with 1 "exe" in it ---------> Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.EXE

No worries, your post makes sense.

Actually the frozen issue was a different issue which I just caught. Additionally I updated 896422 so that the download is sent to the correct directory in Critical. Thanks for the catch.

Go ahead and give it a try now.

Hey Erik, don't worry about this now for my sake, just wanted to let you know the script alone
hasn't changed anything at my end.

I have tried about 15 different combinations and the script insists on recreating the
KB896422 scenario.

I deleted just the instance in "noncritical", and the additional sub folder in critical and the
script put everything back. I do get a finish at this point but if I run apup again it freezes
after script retrieval.

So, I deleted every instance of KB896422, 2 folders, 1 sub folder, 3 exe files, and the apm
files, apup just downloads them again, one at a time. Once there back apup just lays there
like a worn out hoochie mamma - lifeless.

So I wind up again with...

a (KB896422 folder), (KB896422 exe) but no apm file in "noncritical"

a (KB896422 folder), (KB896422 apm), (KB896422 exe) in "critical"
and for good measure, apup creates an additional (KB896422 sub folder), and (KB896422 exe)
and puts it in the primary (KB896422 folder).....

Once all this is back apup just halts after script retrieval.

Go figure!

I believe everything now should be in order. There was an error in the move script that I just corrected. Also that module in NonCritical should now delete itself.

Let me know B)

Erik, you are a scripting "STUD!" :D

When I got home I figured you would have been tweaking the script. I wanted to see
how APUP would handle the new script without my help - like always - PERFECT!

The script made all the necessary changes.

Have a great weekend, whats left of it. :)

Mike

BTW, you don't have to respond to this but I guess it's safe to say there have been no
new updates for 2K since my last update on April 15....
