SP3 vs my old APUP folder

Using my old APUP folder which included all critical and recommended updates since SP2 I had the option to choose which patches to install. Very few of the recommended patches have any benefit for me so I could exclude them. Doesn't SP3 eliminate the option to exclude unnecessary patches?

For now I will avoid SP3. I have saved the old APUP folder which contains the patches included with SP3. For future patches I plan to use the new APUP.

I installed SP3 on my Pro and Home systems - no problems. A friend installed SP3 on his two Pro systems - no problems.

If history is prologue then Autopatcher will soon be up-dated so that it will only work correctly on a system with SP3 already installed - you won't have an option; future patches won't work on an SP2 system.

After reading your post, I installed SP3 without problem on both of my boot drives. Surprisingly, SP3 installed over a previous WinXP setup does not force installation of WGA as far as I can see. When I start to run the new SP3 version of APUP, the WGA option still shows as uninstalled.

I still think that the valuable Autopatcher group (and thanks a lot indeed for your work!) WOULD DO US A VERY GREAT SERVICE, if they would in the download list for Autopatcher also include: "Windows XP non-SP3"! What do you have to loose?

It should not only include updates up to the release date of SP3, but also individual updates issued after that.

MAKE YOUR GREAT WORK STILL GREATER THROUGH INCLUDING THIS OPTION!!!

Thanks in advance
Jan Erik
