AutoPatcher Forum

After downloading the updates for autopatcher using APUP.exe the installer has started to duplicate the different module sections in the tree, and is now stating at the top of the window that it is an Unofficial/Unsupported Release, Could someone please help with this matter because it is leaving outdated information in the modules and causing problems.

Any Help Please.

currently, none of the current scripts are signed, so Unofficial/Unsupported Release it's an expected behavior. it will works anyway

Well, Cristiano answered the easy part!!! Can you please "post/send a pic" as you suggested.

This may not be the solution in your case, but apup.exe and its helper programs sometimes have difficulty with folder names containing spaces (in your case C:\Program Files\). You could try moving the Autopatcher folder to C:\Autopatcher\.

If you want to re-run apup, try running it with the log option enabled (as in C:\Autopatcher\apup /log)
Because of the amount you are downloading, apup.log will be WAAAAY too big to post directly on this board. The advice in THIS POST (in THIS TOPIC) may help.

Ok,
Here's what I did.

I re-installed autopatcher core to c:\autopatcher.
ran apup.exe /log

It nows looks correct, no duplicate modules.

In retrospect, I think the problem was that when I installed the original autopatcher core (Aug'07), I had also installed the original add-ons that were available pre-apup days..(My thinking was that there would be less to download this way) This was causing modules for the original add-on packages and the ones added by apup. Pure speculation on my part, but I am not downloading 1.5 GB again just to prove/disprove it. Or it could have been the fact that the original location had a space in the path.

Thanks for the help, and a big thanks for continuing the autopatcher tradition - even if if not as convenient as before, certainly "safer" since they come directly from MS/Adobe/etc. now.

PS, is there any way to package up a distribution so that it looks/behaves the way the original AP was? I know I can zip everything up.

As you say, running the old-style file (AutoPatcher_WinXP_Aug07_x86_ENU_Core.exe) probably caused more trouble than it saved. Since that file is now nearly a year old, it is no longer recommended that people use it - it seems you learnt this the hard way!!

The old distribution had an Autorun.INF file so your CD/DVD would start automatically, but that seems to have gone missing. It's not hard to write another!
