Usless possibly harmful updates

I am just wondering if updates such as KB940510 which are related to WGA but of no real use to most users will be included in your updates.
Will updates like KB940510 be ignored, flagged as useless or simply included along with the rest? Although so called critical updates like these are there to catch out pirated copies they often cause problems for legit users.
I just want the bare essentials and nothing else when I update my PC, what is your policy?

are you sure about that? in here, there's a lot of places that sell pcs with pirated versions of wxp/vista and most users don't have a clue about. those users don't have the right to know that the reseller is stealing from them? making they run an pirated version of his SO?
edit: i'm not sure about, but isn't this update included in Vista SP1?

I work on quite a few PCs more as a hobby than anything else fixing family, friends and their friends machines. A lot of PCs now come with Acronis or similar back up programs that restore the machine back to the time it was built, I have started using autopatcher to bring these machines up to date, what I donít want is to get into a row about possible pirated copies and would rather not have anything popping up on the screen after I have worked on it.
If a subsequent update from MS flags up an illegal copy then thatís between the owner of the machine and the original vendor.
I agree with your sentiments but it would be nice to see all WGA type stuff in its own folder so that it can be easily identified.
I am of the view that ignorance is bliss
