AutoPatcher_WinXP_Aug07_x86_ENU_Core.exe
AutoPatcher_WinXP_Aug07_x86_ENU_Update.exe
AutoPatcher_Extras_Jul07_x86_ENU_Addon.exe
AutoPatcher_DirectX_Aug07_x86_ENU_Addon.exe
After install and running Autoupdater, as a matter of completeness, I went to the Microsoft Windows Update web site and downloaded and installed any missing updates, including WGA and any missing activex controls. After rebooting I verified that I could still access the Windows Update web site, and performed a search again for missing updates.
Next I installed Office 2003 Professional from CDROM. I then installed Autoupdater components for Office 2003:
AutoPatcher_Office03_Aug07_ENU_Core.exe
AutoPatcher_OfficePack_Aug07_ENU_Addon.exe
After installing the Autoupdater Office components, I then attempt to download from any missing components from the Microsoft Download site.
The problem I have now is that I can reach the Microsoft Download web site, click on either Custom or Express download, and the site simply loops searching for downloads with no error returned from the site. I have Clamwin disabled, popups okay in IE, and both the Microsoft Windows and Office updates sites in my trusted locations in IE. I have checked the event viewer for any clue for an error but none exist. I have verified that I can reach the Windows Update site via 'nslookup'. I also in IE have security setting turned to the lowest settings. I also verified on the Windows Update site that downloading from the site is allowed.
The weirdest thing is that if I go to the control panel and enable updates to be downloaded but not installed, this works. As I indicated above I can reproduce this.
Could this be a certificate authority problem? I' m baffled what to do next
TIA

I have since looked at the Office Addon Pack description, and I noticed that it has updates for Office 2007. Is this strictly for Office 2007? Could this have broken MS Updates? If so, what do I do next?
