I get the following error on startup of apup 1.04 on Win XP SP3:

Quote

Run-time error '372':

Failed to load control 'ctlwinsckdownloader' from . Your version of may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

There are actually two spaces between 'of' and 'may'. No log file is produced.

You're the second person to report this error. I'm talking to Antonis to find out if there is a fix. I'll let you know

Huh?
The Run-time error '372' problem was certainly present in earlier versions of APUP. but was then reported as being fixed.

@ autopatcher
Since you joined before version 1.04 was released, did you run an earlier version before APUP upgraded itself to 1.04?

No earlier version of apup was ever run on the computer in question.

I managed to fix the issue by removing MSWINSCK.OCX (version 5.0.37.14) and MSWINSCK.DEP from C:\WINDOWS\system32, and putting apup_bin\MSWINSCK.OCX (version 6.1.97.82) there instead.

Thanks for your feedback. My first idea just got binned (!)

Can you search for the file MSWINSCK.OCX which you should find (on an XP box) in two places:
1. in AutoPatcher's own apup_bin\ folder
2. in the system folder (commonly C:\WINDOWS\system32\)

On a system I have (which works) MSWINSCK.OCX is present in both places, with a file version of 6.1.97.82.

[Version info (in the absence of GetVers.exe or similar) can be checked by right clicking on the filename in an Explorer window, selecting Properties and then the Version tab.]

If MSWINSCK.OCX is missing from the system32 folder, or is the wrong version, then copy it.

On the other hand, if your system matches mine, then I am out of ideas and we will have to wait for a reply or information from Antonis.

Glad it's now fixed. It seems my idea was correct, but I was a bit too slow in posting.
