Hi, could any body pls tell me which Release to download in the AutoPatcher Updater Window.
AutoPatch Updater 1.0.4
AutoPatch Engine 5.6.81

The above 2 items are already checked in.
I am using Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 2 / English Version.

Next, Can i switch off the Standards Windows Update ?

Thanks,
Shajan.

Hi shajan
Unfortunateley, AutoPatcher has just (a couple of days ago) dropped support of XP Service Pack 2 in favour of XP Service Pack 3.

You will need to first download and install Service Pack 3 from Microsoft, before selecting XP Service Pack 3 in APUP

The usual warnings apply to Service Pack 3:
1. Don't install it on a hp/Compag with an AMD processor and an original (OEM) hp installation of XP, unless the Intel** driver problem has been fixed. Fixes to apply PRIOR to installing SP3 are available from both Microsoft and hp.

2. Don't install whilst Norton/Symantec products are running, especially Internet Security 2008 (a LiveUpdate fix is now available).

**"Intel" is not a typo - hp actually install an Intel driver on AMD boxes, which is why the SP3 install then crashes the computer.

Turning off Automatic Updates is a personal choice. If it helps, I have one box on "Notify me but don't download..." and the rest turned off.

Thank You James !
for the detailed explanation.

I do hope that people here in this forum have no troubles with SP3.

SP2 for me is running perfectly fine, with no crashes at all,
Hope to hear from senoir members here, if it is time to install the SP3 now or wait for some more time, and to find out how stable it is.

Regarding the Windows Update, your choice is the correct. Will do that here too.

Thanks & have a nice day.
Shajan.

Hi Erik Ramey !!!
I request you please make available the files that you already have for Windows XP - SP2 !
Understand that it takes much effort and resources to keep it up to date,

But you can put a message somewhere stating that AutoPatcher does not support it any longer.
but the files are up to date till so and so date.

At least, those who missed a chance, newbee like me, can have the files that you already have, knowing well that there is no support any longer.

This will help those who do not want or find no significant reason to migrate to SP3.

Ultimately, it is your choice and decision. You know it better. Have a nice day !! Cheers !! Shajan.

I agree with shajan :)
I reformatted my pc yesterday (w/ win xp sp2 x86 -- I prefer not to try SP3 yet, just to be on the safe side hehe) and tried to use AutoPatcher for the first time, since I just found out about it..
I browsed the forum and found out I was a few days late since apparently the patcher for the windows version i installed was just recently removed hehe lucky me :(
