I say we get an AutoPatcher for Windows 3.11 ...
[satire]
Well that shouldn't take too long to write - as I recall Windows 3.11 was the update to Windows 3.1. Should work well with my Windows NT server.
[/satire]
On a more serious note, early reports of problems with SP3 were long on rumour and short on fact. The AMD problem was because hp/Compaq didn't read Microsoft's instructions on how to make restore CDs. The corrupted registry problem ended up with Microsoft and Symantec blaming each other, then
both of them releasing a fix. And nobody read the instructions that clearly state not to run AV during a Service Pack install.
Especially not any Norton/Symantec product.
The only problem I know of with SP3 is if you have a WD My Book firewire attached when you attempt to boot - but then if you have one of those, SP3 is not your only problem. Some people had problems with SP2 as well. (For the curious, this is also known as the sbp2port.sys problem. Microsoft are investigating it.........)
And none of this is AutoPatcher's fault!
