I just reinstalled my xp pro and activated it. My problem is I do not want Sp3 I have no need for it and don’t like MS forcing me to have it. My Xp cd install with SP2 but dos not have all the updates befor SP3. If there is a way to get my updates with out getting sp3 I would really be happy. I did try down loading and using AutoPatcher Updater and AutoPatcher XP August 2007 full down load. When I try to install the full setup it stops saying I need WinXP July 2007 x86 ENU and keeps saying the month before it. If I use the Updater it says some thing like it can not find any product. :P
Noob maybe to late for what I am asking. I did read (Give us pre-SP3 XP Autopatcher back!!!, Many problems with SP3!!!)
and maybe asking for SP2 updates is no longer here for download. If some could please let me know and Thank you for the people that make this all work. I know I am a noob here but I do a lot of reinstalls thanks to my kids I was ok befor Microsoft Update made it so the only way I can get any patchs now is to install sp3 and I dont want it. Maybe they win I hope not.

I can't, for the life of me, understand why you wouldn't want SP3. You'd rather sit and install updates for roughtly 2 hours individually rather that have them all included in one update? SP2 is dead, get with it and load SP3. And yes, you do "have a need for it"....to keep your system updated! :)

I say we get an AutoPatcher for Windows 3.11. I have no need or want for Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP or Vista.

Well that shouldn't take too long to write - as I recall Windows 3.11 was the update to Windows 3.1. Should work well with my Windows NT server.
[/satire]

On a more serious note, early reports of problems with SP3 were long on rumour and short on fact. The AMD problem was because hp/Compaq didn't read Microsoft's instructions on how to make restore CDs. The corrupted registry problem ended up with Microsoft and Symantec blaming each other, then both of them releasing a fix. And nobody read the instructions that clearly state not to run AV during a Service Pack install. Especially not any Norton/Symantec product.

The only problem I know of with SP3 is if you have a WD My Book firewire attached when you attempt to boot - but then if you have one of those, SP3 is not your only problem. Some people had problems with SP2 as well. (For the curious, this is also known as the sbp2port.sys problem. Microsoft are investigating it.........)

And none of this is AutoPatcher's fault!
