Does anyone know which update/tweak strips the Display of all backgrounds except the one showing st the time of Autopatch?

I have lost all backgrounds and all themes stored in the Display area and it seems ridiculous to have to do a system restore et al!!! to get it back!!!]

Your description of what is missing is unclear

Do you mean that the Themes tab of Display Properties is missing, like THIS PICTURE?

Do you mean that the Desktop tab of Display Properties is missing, like THIS PICTURE?

In both cases, the most probable cause is that you are:
(1) infected by a Virus, Trojan horse or other Malware or,
(2) a network administrator has disabled the tabs with Group Policy.

To restore the tabs, execute the following commands at a command prompt that has administrative privileges:
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v NoDispAppearancePage /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v NoDispAppearancePage /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v NoDispBackgroundPage /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v NoDispBackgroundPage /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Enter each line one at a time and press Enter each time at the command prompt to execute each REG ADD command.

If you mean something else, please give more details.

This morning my thoughts are clearer. What is missing is WALLPAPER. All that was ....is missing.

So, I have started making some new wallpaper from my picture files. But I still would like to know where it all went?

Thanks

No AutoPatcher tweak or update removes or deletes your wallpaper, as far as I know.

There are plenty of OTHER things, Registry settings, Active Desktop... that might do this.

The standard wallpapers are kept at : %SystemRoot%\Web\Wallpaper
which is usually : C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

long, long time ago, autopatcher in deed had an tool to remove all the original windows wallpapers. since the apup version, i've removed that stuff from ptb version, but i'm not sure if other languages still have that stuff. at that time, we us to have an option to remove old walls and another one to add some walls. but that stuff never was critical, you had to choose install it. if you don't have that files, you can add that again just by grabbing it from another windows. i don't remember if that tweak had an uninstall

Yes, thankyou Cristiano for reminding me. I had forgotten about the old AutoPatcher_Extras module which had lots of wallpaper options.

The english Addons module still has 2 wallpaper options (The old AutoPatcher_Extras module had more.) These are:
Delete Old Win9x Style Wallpapers and Delete New Windows XP Wallpapers

But, like you said, this stuff is not critical, you have to choose to install it.
There is no uninstall: once the .BMP files or .JPG files are gone you have to use your Windows CD to bring them back.
