Hi,

I use to order AutoPatcher CD's regularly, than they had the MS problem. Now I find myself in a position that I need the CD agian. I have about worn the old one out (last update June 2007) Is there any where I can get an updated and completed CD. I only use XP Pro sp2 on my computers. If I can download the information on the net Ok, but internet here in Southern Thailand slow and unreliable.

If I download the patches can I update the ones I downloaded with only the lates ones or do I have to download them all again?

Any help apperciated.

Thanks

Latest AutoPatcher updates are for those systems upgraded to XP SP3 - updates for SP2 are no longer provided.

No, there is not. That method of distribution ended in August 2007

Thanks for the information and help. Download here in Thailand very slow, if I only want XP Pro updates what do I download? If I add these to the last CD I bought last year that should bring me up to date, Right?

I have found that if you repair (second "R" windows XP every 3-4 months the system preforms like new, the only problem is the patches and updates are lost.

Is there any way to prevent this?

You slipstream SP3 into your original XP CD and burn a new XP w/SP3 CD.

Then you periodically slipstream updates/patches/fixes/etc released for XP w/SP3 into the SP3 CD and burn a new XP w/SP3 CD Integrated.

Places and software to help on this process are the RyanVM Integrator; http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/ , WMP11 Slipstreamer; http://www.boooggy.org/slipstreamer/ , Driver Packs; http://forum.driverpacks.net/

Go to these forums and look around for information on using addons, updates, drivers, etc to assist/instruct on how to perform the processes.

Losing the patches is by design. A repair install deliberately removes everything not on the CD, because that's what Microsoft means by "repair". As DesertJerry has just said, you will have to create a newer CD, by slipstreaming Service Pack 3.

@DesertJerry
I know this is all a matter of personal preference, but I would have gone with HFSLIP, not RyanVM. At least HFSLIP doesn't mess with the Microsoft files....

You can find HFSLIP here.

Of course, in all this advice, AutoPatcher is usually the most up-to-date!

Also, these warnings by Boooggy on the various forums are interesting:

because microsft closed autopatcher i decided to remove all wmp 11 addons.

and

Quote

consider the way microsoft closed on autopatcher i ask all NOT to request any wmp 11 hotfixes here......

Seems word gets around!

Edit: Corrected typo, added link to HFSLIP
