AP does not seem to detect that AP itself just installed PowerShell v2...

Hi AutoPatch
Since you've posted this in General Support could you please let us know what Operating System you are installing on.

Also, I hope you don't really mean "PowerShell v2", because AP installs PowerShell 1.0.
I know there is a -v2- in the filename (for example WindowsXP-KB926139-v2-x86-ENU.exe for XP) but this is still PowerShell 1.0.

"last month", my AP merely showed PowerShell 1.0 and "blued" out as being installed/detected...
"this month", my AP shows PowerShell 1.0 v2, but not "blued" out, i check-mark it, it "looks like" it's installing, but remains NOT "blued" out upon reboot-and-rerun of AP...

Windows XP Pro SP3...

edit: now that i know what KB# i was looking for, i tried installing from there, got an error dialog to uninstall PowerShell 1.0 before installing PowerShell 1.0 v2... now all my entries are "blued", but only after uninstalling PowerShell and letting my updated AP re-install the v2... guess i was assuming it would install "over" the first version, but trying to do so via AP doesn't pop up the error dialog to axe the first version first...

Thanks for the feedback.

Microsoft do indeed say that PowerShell cannot be installed "over" itself:

Quote

Caution Before you install Windows PowerShell 1.0, uninstall all earlier versions of Windows PowerShell 1.0. For information about how to uninstall Windows PowerShell, see the "Uninstall Windows PowerShell" section.

If anyone else is experiencing difficulties, click the above link and read the uninstall section (at the bottom) of the Microsoft kb page.

i simply deleted the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Powershell"...
then deleted the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\windowspowershell" folder...

then AP's install "took" (i did not have to reboot either, either for the 'uninstall' or after AP's install of v2)...

(above 'uninstall' for Win XP SP3, "mileage may vary"...)
