Installing Updates

madz's Photo madz 16 Jul 2008

This is really Off topic but I figured you guys would know above anyone else. I literally JUST realized this site existed. Anyway, at my work I find myself installing updates all the time (we repair computers and install windows on systems (ONLY if they provide a authentic sticker with a non blacklisted code) as well as many other things) and needless to say updates waste a lot of our time. Now i used another program (wont name, not sure of your policies) to download SP3 and a list of updates and .net etc. I made a simple batch to execute them but each updates asks for the user to press accept and click i agree and next etc. Is there a way for these individual K3786387568 (thats a random number) updates to install silently like it does with the updater? Some kind of flag i put into my batch file as i start each file? and also, if i say screw it can Autopatcher be setup in some way to run offline updates and install them silently? Thanks for your time it would save me years on my life if this will work.

EDIT: I think i figured it out. I just used the flags "quiet" and "passive" when executing the update cabs. Testing my update disc on a computer as we speak :D

With an opening comment like that, welcome to the forums madz, even if you aren't yet using AutoPatcher.

You are almost there -- /passive and /quiet are different degrees of the same thing. Both are classed as unattended installs. However, /passive shows some activity on-screen, while /quiet shows none. You will probably need /norestart as well.

Or -- you could start using AutoiPatcher!!

Does autopatcher download the updates with each run or can it save the updates to be run offline?

EDIT: nvm this morning i checked out the manual. This program i think will make me feel bad for wasting my time trying to make a offline updater manually :D
