Hi, I have Autopatcher on my Windows XP Home system and have downloaded all the updates via apup and according to that I have downloaded SP3, and installed all the updates via Autopatcher and yet my system tells me I only have SP2 installed. There are no Black items in Autopatcher to install all are showing Blue.

Can anyone help me please.

Hi!

I am not quite sure what you mean by:

Quote

... according to that I have downloaded SP3 ...
but APUP will not download Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) for you, nor will AutoPatcher install SP3 for you.

For a successful install you must first update your computer to SP3, then run AutoPatcher.

If you have run AutoPatcher, the updates are shown in blue because Microsoft's XP updates are multi-targeted & multi-branched: they will install on either SP2 or SP3.

If I have misunderstood what you are doing, please reply with a little more information about what you did.

I don't understand when you say APUP will not download Windows XP Service Pack 3 :( I thought that's what APUP was designed to do. It is listed in the list of Patches/downloads in the APUP window.

James is correct John_B. You will need to update your computer to SP3 before running AutoPatcher. Right now, AutoPatcher doesn't include the options necessary to implement a module for Service Pack installations.

OK now I understand, because it is a service pack this has to be installed separately then Autopatcher will install updates from then on.

Thank for explaining things.
